Big Ten Championship: 15 Wisconsin v 13 Michigan St

I feel like the officials should let the players decide the outcome of the game..but he had to make that call.

I feel like this as well.

Michigan State's boards must be in full meltdown mode right now.

I think I'm more mad at the special teams coach because Wisconsin's punter did what he's taught to do - if you ever suffer contact of any kind, flail backwards quickly - but...come on, man. The Rose Bowl was just decided on a flop by a punter. That sucks.

A kid I went to school with went on to be UNI's(Northern Iowa) punter and he totally flopped towards the end of a playoff game which kept the drive alive and allowed them to score the game winning touchdown. It was such b.s. but yeah... most people would do the same thing in their position. I don't agree with it but I guess it can win you games

I'm trying to remember who Northern Iowa played...

70 years from now, some player from Michigan State will be telling this story...

"Well, when I played in the first ever Big Ten Championship Game, we had this epic shootout with Wisconsin. We scored. Then they scored. Then we scored. Then they scored."

"What happened next, Grandpa?"

"We had a guy run into the kicker and we lost."

".......fsdfdsgsdgsdfdfgf"

Say what you will, but it that had been a Vol punter, almost everybody would be praising him and what he did.

oh they're not fussing about whether what he did was right or wrong, they're all upset about that being the ending of a game that was the kind of rare game one sees where they don't want the game to end

Exactly..the right call was made, no doubt about it.

It just sucks that the game has to be decided by an official.

Without the call, they have the ball around the 10..and at worst, kick a field goal to tie it and go into OT.

I take it back... it was the final game of the season and him flopping allowed Northern Iowa to get into the playoffs. They beat Texas State/Barrick Nealy. I don't know if you remember him but Barrick Nealy was like the Vince Young of Div. II.

So, Texas State scored a TD with 5:01 left in the game to go up by 8. UNI got the ball back and had to punt and the punter(kid I went to school with) totally flopped without being touched to get the flag. UNI drives down the field and scores with 1:27 left in the game to put it in OT. They win in OT to make the playoffs.

Was definitely bull crap. Just a smart play from him...

I'm sure Michigan State will be enjoying one out of the 536 New Years Day game between Big Ten and SEC teams.

this might be when the BTN could serve as a really good idea

...when people are so excitable about the game and/or its outcome that they -even at this point - that they still want to hear more and more about it

I'm just hoping they fall below Michigan so I can go to the Sugar Bowl. That'd be fun.

They probably will fall below Michigan but I thought you didn't like the flawed BCS system :p

They had the same record and won head to head. Dropping them below Michigan is a punishment for playing in the conference championship lol

Guess we'll see but I wouldn't be surprised if they fall more than 3 spots to fall behind Michigan since they have more losses

i'm curious though if they fall below 16...this is the kind of game/ score that could cause a 13 team to only fall a few spaces...had it gone into overtime, definitely a small drop only

it'll be interesting to see how hard pressed TCU might be left to hit 16...UGA was the only one near them that got blown out

I hate the BCS system and Michigan shouldn't be anywhere near a BCS bowl this year, but, hey, NOLA!

the issue is that - since they expanded to 5 BCS games - they really need to amend the rule to no more than 3 teams from a given conference instead of 2 (the latter did make much more sense back when there were only 4 games and only 8 teams could be selected)

but it doesn't need to be just "3 teams can be taken," there needs to be some rule qualifiers about it needs to come if A or B happens OR it needs to be that the 3rd team needs to meet qualifications A, X, and T or something

I feel bad for the guy that ran into the kicker but I don't know why he was rushing in the first place. They had the return on. Stupid stupid STUPID way to lose a game.
