Big East Expansion - New York Post Report

Reported from a Dallas station that TCU is all in on this if the Big East promises addition to all sports, not just football. Think this is probably going to happen myself.

I'd love to see the SEC expand with Texas, TA&M, Duke, and UNC. 4 large fan bases benefiting both football and basketball in many areas.

Duke? Please... Add Texas and Texas A&M and be done with it. As a Matter of fact, if Oklahoma and Oklahoma State want in, go ahead and offer them as well.

UNC and Duke for basketball reasons. Also - it would be nice to get a couple other potential SEC wins in football with the state of our program.

I don't see it happening...The Big East is a Basketball Conference, not football.
Like it says..the non football schools don't want it to happen.

So they are going to invite Temple back after kicking them out?

TCU in the Big East?

And I thought they were going to invite Villanova if Nova made the jump up.

TCU needs to hold out for a Big 12 bid...you know it's coming. I wish Boise would have held out for a Big 12 bid.
maybe in a year or 2 they will get the invite..TCU and Boise State joining the big 12?...yeah, that makes up for the 'huskers and Buffs BIG time.

What makes you think the Big 12 would have offered Boise?

It looks like Boise is gonna wind up SOL when this next round of conference realignment is over. They aren't going to get an invite to any of the AQ Conferences and what looked like a good move in jumping to the MWC blew up in their face with Utah headed for the Pac-12, BYU going solo and TCU headed for the Big East.

Thank God. For the longest time I questioned why there were only 16 teams in the Big East.

How do you think this would effect Memphis basketball? I see this hurting UT as Memphis would be able to sell Big East to recruits now.

It would level out for Memphis because they'd no longer have the ridiculously inaccurate W-L record

How could it hurt UT? Memphis already gets top classes playing in a nothing league. If they go to the Big East and become just another team instead of dominating it might actually hurt them. The Memphis guys are still going to play for them either way. This shouldn't have any impact on UT except it might make Memphis a slightly more viable choice in football one day...

good points Card. I forget that we rarely take anyone from Memphis anyway. Just thought it was an interesting question, but I guess it ended up being a stupid one.

No more than being 300 miles away from ACC basketball powerhouses, or 150 miles away from Lexington, affects UT basketball recruiting.

Tiger High is just another good team that happens to be on our schedule, and who recruits some of the same players we do. That will be so whether they play in Conference USA, the Big East, or some Conference to be Named Later.
