Big 12 defense…

How has a big 12 defense shut down the offense of Ole Miss? In my whole life, that conference has not cared much for defending, but Baylor has shut down a very prolific offense in the SECw. This is the first bowl season in a while where the SEC has looked weak, but the Conference is looking overrated right now. Raw talent may be taking a step back to work ethic and “want to” right now. Corn fed white boys at WR are recently able to out perform the raw talent speed demons from the South. I put some stock in recruiting ratings, but there is no reason within that logic that a Cincinnati was able to hang around an Alabama.
Every thing I’ve ever thought to know about college “football” is looking wrong this bowl season. Perhaps, we should start recruiting farmers from the Heartland who just want to win.

Whose playing in the title game? Whose starting QB, probably the second best QB in the country, got knocked out after only 6 passes? Who played the majority of the game with a never started freshman most of the game? Stop.

Did you even watch the game. Ole Miss lost a senior All American quarterback - who singlehandedly beat us - along with the refs. Without Corral at qb - Ole Miss is nothing on offense. We would have beaten them by 30 without him.

Corall or no Corral it's next man up. Dave Aranda was a very good DC at LSU and Baylor has been playing pretty solid defense all year. Our strength of schedule this year was #20 theirs was #22. The top SEC teams are as dominate as ever it's the middling teams that are making the conference look overrated.

Corral did not look that impressive before his injury. He had already thrown an int. He was hurt on a play when his protection broke down. I’m not sure the outcome would have been much different had he not been injured.

There is no way to know, but we do know that he is arguable one of the top 3 qb's coming out this year, is an extremely elusive runner/scrambler and that his replacement was an unproven, untested freshman who was not ready and threw a pick six and at least one other interception.
If Corral is in there - OM runs a qb keeper down near the goal line instead of passing in the flat - so there is probably a 14 point swing right there. I think Ole Miss wins if he isn't knocked out of the game and it may not have been close.

Not taking anything away from Baylor who does have a very good defense, but Corral going down was the difference in game imho.

I believe Corral would have tired their D line out with up-tempo O and ran wild 2nd half. The Freshman that had never played in a real game was just not up to the task, some 3 & outs gave Baylor D the rest they needed. The whole O game for OM changed with him in there and was enough to keep the Baylor D fresh. I would have loved to see UT play OM with that Freshman QB.

I think we may have boat raced them. No offense to the freshman but Corral's scrambling and elusive running accounted for keeping their drives alive and for most of their points. He and the Alabama qb were the two best duel purpose qb's in the country.

I was more impressed on how OK state shut down Notre Dame in the second half of their game yesterday!

I would agree but then they would've just brought in their 2nd team running QB Plumlee on us.
