There isn't a fanbase in america that doesn't think ESPN hates them.

yeah there is, USC fans have no reason to think ESPN hates them. Shelley Smith should have a dorm room at USC she is there so much doing reports. ESPN is in a lovefest with USC.

If you haven't noticed, ESPN doesn't hate anyone they just cater towards the bigger markets. Therefore the smaller markets (like Knoxville/ Tennessee) feel left out and think their is a bias towards them.

It's just business.

I still think Lou Holtz has it out for Tennessee and he is an employee of ESPN so if you wanted to you could argue for a negative bias towards UT.

Lou Holtz is absolutely unwatchable. The season hasn't even started yet and I'm already tired of him.

lou holtz is bad, really bad. desmond howard, almost as bad. but neither touch sean salisbury when it comes to espn's worst hires.

as for the topic. espn has nothing against UT. They have nothing against Cal. They have nothing for UT. They have nothing for Cal. They just make their picks and report it. Until Tennessee shows they can consistently win big games, why pick them? Get over yourselves, we're just a university. Business is right. They cover the bigger markets more because that's where the money is. Hence the reason they have become regionalized in baseball, only covering the red-sox and yankees until the other division races become meaningful. I'm sick of this crap. I came back to volnation for more of this garbage?

First off, the media doens't always hate us (at least sometimes) which is proven by our #3 preseason record in 05Also, UT doesn't have a smaller market. UT used to be top 5 in the country in selling merchandise. Some of the media doesn't like us because the majority of the broadcasters and writers from either California or the northeast. In case you haven't noticed there aren't exactly many announcers with southern accents. Most are from the Big 10 which includes Herbstreit, Corso, and Holtz. That makes up the majority of espn's football coverage. Mark May went to Pitt. Therefore, the media as a whole don't hate us, they are just ignorant about Tennessee football.

ummm, espn cares jack about how much merchandise we sell. they care about their media market. depending upon which service you use, knoxville is ranked somewhere around the 60th media market. not exactly prime picking. also, while i have no idea where announcers are from, they are taught to rid themselves of their accents and are taught to use the midwest accents, aka, no accent. also, it should be noted that the producers and writers come up with what to talk about. quit your whining. ut gets plenty of coverage. if they hate us so much, why do we get so many sat night espn games?

I just said they don't hate us. Also the knoxville media market doesn't mean a whole lot. There are as many if not more diehard UT fans all over the country as any school. The college football market isn't limited to one city like you make it sound. Ann Arbour and Gainesville can't be much better that Knoxville.
