Last Saturday I took my family to the game. Wanted the whole experience for them since 2 had never been to a Vol game. Picked a good parking lot just above the strip beside the hospital. Police on each block beside it. We tailgated and had a great time. Then the game happened. We all know how that turned out! I got back to my truck but no truck. After walking to the nearby cops for help and being turned down (even snapped at by one for bothering him) we sat there for hours occasionally talking to an officer by phone. The police never showed. I called all impounds and towing companies. Nothing. The police never even called me back so we called them Tuesday. The detective stated it probably went to Cock county but will never find it. I am out 20plus grand. According to police it's very common on gameday. Especially trucks. Its recently happened at Bulls Gap Raceway and nearly 30 trucks were taken this fall at the Bristol race. Beware!

Wtf? No surveillance at all? How did they break in to your truck and get it started all without looking suspicious enough for someone to catch them? Thieves are very smart nowadays. I just wish they got capital punishment for stealing someone's stuff they had to work for to earn it. But, then again, our government would all be screwed.

FYI, the Cock County Sheriff’s department got busted years back by the FBI for being part of one of the nations biggest chop shop rings. I doubt they’re all good citizens now. Sorry bout your truck.

It's been going on for years. My son had his stolen over ten years ago while at a movie. Was found still running several hours later by THP up near Johnson City at a interstate pull-over, not stripped but pretty beat -up. Knoxville's finest don't seem to care. I wonder how many they recover as to how many are stolen.

Not a knock on all cops, but the majority of Knoxville cops and Sevier Co. and Blount co perform about like UT against GA St, then laugh about it with their buddy's after doing a crappy job.

For today's game, especially leave the black color trucks at home.

The BYU bunch loves those.

How did they get the truck started? Mine will not start without the specific key for the truck. Most cars and trucks have that feature on it since 2015. I heard of trucks being stolen last year and called Ford. They said the new trucks must have the key to start. They said they could not be hot wired. Don't know if that is true, but it is what Form Customer Service said. Sorry yours was taken.

Wow cop snapped at you for being a tax paying citizen and asking for your property that was stolen? What’s up with the cops these days?

You mean to tell me they didn’t even file a stolen report?
Your insurance company would require it.

Many years ago, I was living in an apartment in West Knoxville. I walked out the door to go to work one morning and found that my car had been stolen. I called the police. They came out and filled out some paperwork, and then told me to go ahead and contact my insurance company because by now the car was in a chop shop in Cocke County and that I would never see the car again.

Turned out the car had been taken for a joyride and left at an apartment complex next door. After the car sat there for a few days, the manager called the police. They came out and put an orange abandoned-car tag on it but apparently never checked to see if it was stolen. The car was ultimately towed to Sutherland Avenue and put in a junkyard. The only reason I got it back was that a young UT student was working nights at the junkyard to put herself through school, and she somehow traced the tags and called me. She said "I knew something wasn't right because the car was almost brand new and it was sitting out there in the junkyard with a bunch of wrecks."

The moral of this story: The KPD could care less about stolen cars. They have bigger things to do, like writing speeding tickets.

Damn man, sorry to hear that. Hopefully you will recoup your loss through insurance.

The pro's need about 20 to 30 seconds and they're heading down the road in your ride.
