Best/worst case scenarios for Vols entering NFL.

Actually it was. Dallas's o-line became elite in 2014 when Zach Martin was drafted and played at an all-pro level right off the bat as a rookie. Same thing happened this year with Tennessee and Jack Conklin. That 2014 Dallas line had 3 All-Pros (Zach Martin, Travis Fredrick, and Tyron Smith). And they were the major reason they made the playoffs and almost beat Green Bay in the divisional round.

To say the Cowboys o-line wasn't elite in 2014 is asinine. They were clearly the best in the league.
Just for the record when these runners... really just pick whichever one was your favorite all time running back... and go watch an interview about his rushing and he will probably mention how it was the O Line leading the way.... do you know why he said that?

Because a RB goes as the O-Line goes... O-Line can fail to make a block yes... but if all the blocks are made and the runner makes the wrong read on the play... guess what... people blame the line... when in reality it was the RB's fault.... the O-Line makes the RB right almost all of the time and the runner makes the O-Line right 1/10 times.... come on man...

There's only one exception to this rule, and it was Barry Sanders. This philosophy and the trend towards throwing is why RBs aren't worth much.

He was mediocre behind the best or second best offensive line in football.

A 29 year old RB who averaged 3.6 ypc the season before was ahead of him on the depth chart and averaged the roughly the same yards per carry on significantly more touches.

If Henry played behind any other line, he would have averaged less than 3.7 yards per carry like Murray did the year before in Philly.

This post shows how ignorant you are when it comes to the actual Xs and Os of football.

Demarco Murray averaging 3.7 per carry in Philly had just as much, if not more, to do with scheme fit than the quality of his OL. He was a terrible fit for Kelly's system.

There's a lot more that goes into the game than a player's raw physical ability. Scheme and scheme fits are really important. Sometimes a decent player in a system they're suited perfectly to can outperform a star who's stuck in a system that doesn't fit his skillset.

Hard to pick up on that when all you do is watch how highlights on YouTube.

How many times do I have to tell you this? Kiper himself said it last week. At this point in the process Kiper and McShay are no longer telling us their opinions they are relaying what they hear from NFL front offices. Kiper said this on NFL Live this week while making fun of McShay. He said McShay was laughing at him a few months ago because he had Patrick Mahomes going in the 2nd round. McShay said he wouldn't pick Mahomes before the 3rd round. But now he has Mahomes as a first rounder because that is what the NFL front offices are telling him. Kiper said at this point in the year people don't care about their opinions anymore it's what the NFL teams think that matters and that is how they craft their mock drafts and big boards.

You need to realize that before the senior bowl and combine everything the media heads are saying is conjecture because the NFL GMs and top personnel folks have not even started delving deep into the prospects yet. That is how you get guys rising and falling. The media heads start learning who the teams like and who they don't. That is how you get Solomon Thomas passing Jonathan Allen on everyone's big board in a matter of days after Allen led him all during the college season.

Why in the world would NFL teams relay CORRECT information/evaluations to Kiper and McShay just for that info to be seen by public AND other teams.

If I was a GM I might give them false evaluations on purpose just to get a team to back off on the real talent I want.

False news does happen. But typically journalists make their name by having trusted sources inside organization that can relay them accurate information. Plus most of the time it's not the actual GM. A lot of these guys like McShay have friends who are scouts on each of these teams and the scouts tell them how they are leaning. Sometimes it's accurate other times it's not. That's the beauty of following the NFL draft.

Shocking revelation that Zeke Elliott is a bust because he runs behind an elite OL.

Yes he has.

No he hasn't.

Shared time as a rookie backup to the leading rusher in the AFC last year and matched his production on a pro-rated basis....right at 500 yards rushing, 4.5 yards per carry, 5 touchdowns. Added another 137 yards receiving, 10 yards per catch as a running back which is outstanding. Over 600 total yards as a rookie backup behind an all-pro caliber running back in Murray.

Absolutely zip, zero, nada that Henry did last season says anything remotely close to bust. And if you listened to any of the games, both Mike Keith and Frank Wycheck raved about his power, speed, explosion and ability to make cuts despite an erroneous reputation of being a "straight ahead only" runner.

You should cut your losses on this one. You were wrong, yet again, about Henry and Taylor. Henry had a strong rookie season and showed great promise while Taylor couldn't even make an NFL game day 53-man roster.

Which is one of the reasons Zak Prescott had a good rookie season. Put him behind an average offensive line and he would have struggled badly like most rookie QBs.

TOM BRADY would struggle behind a bad Offensive Line.... every QB struggles behind a bad offensive line..

You're right, of course

Aaron Rodgers has been playing behind a make shift offensive line for a couple of years now. He occasionally struggles, but can improvise as well or better than any QB in history. Brady has always been less than mobile and he's struggled during years his offensive line was unhealthy or undermanned.

:birgits_giggle: I understand why you might not like him, but he's not overrated. He throws into windows no one else can. He improvises as well as anyone ever. And yes, as good as Favre was, Rodgers is much better.
