So, in a crowd like this with so much experience and opinion I'm curious: what would be the "must listen" sports talk shows? I'm interested in shows that give the best coverage of UT football. I'm sure there are a variety of opinions and reasons for those opinions. But what shows would you put as your top 3 and why? And, I'm only aware of TSR & SportsAnimal stations, so if it's not on there, be sure to say where I can catch it.

[Here's links to SportsAnimal (hover over "schedule" for show list) and TSR (hover over "on air" for show list) if you've forgotten what shows air locally]

I'll hang up and listen...

Ainge relates to the younger folks and basilio is extremely funny in his own way but you kind of have to listen for a few months to understand his subtle humor

I live in SC and listen to TSR via the iPhone app. I really like Ainge in the mornings and if I'm still on the road Treece and Swain for the afternoon. I don't really care for Tony B or Bros Going Hard.

Just listen to Vol calls or the kickoff call in show and that's all you need for "excellent expert" opinions and great laughs. And if you call in be sure it ask how Coach is doing. Its a rule.

It has been my opinion and my opinion only its really hard to find a show that is ONLY interested in giving good info, fielding calls with a true desire to answer questions and have relevant guest (not some screaming Las Vegas broker) that have valid, well educated, "inside" information....When two or more are hosting the show they seem to be more interested in entertaining each other and stroking the backs of sponsors than anything else....and I worked in radio for about 4 years...I think hitting all those benchmarks I mentioned is probably EXTREMELY difficult to accomplish...having said that...I find myself gravitating back to sports talk radio over and over again...hmmmmm!!

I'm tired & fed up with all of them! Ainge is ok when he sticks to facts & sports. D, J & H is beyond bad. Jeff is okay but the other 2 hog the air time (haven't listened to them since last fall) the Sports Animal afternoon show is okay sometimes, when they are talking UTFB & not golf or tennis! Basillio is too critical & I just can't listen to that Yankee accent for long. If you have Sirius Radio, college sports ch 91 is okay, & much better now that they ditched Finebaum!!!

#1 for me is Basilio. He's not for everyone, especially those who think that their UT can do no wrong or admit that it can but prefer the laundry not be aired in public. He's not right all the time but neither are any of the other talking heads. His blog is good, especially with "X" and the addition of Hatfield's thoughts on basketball which seem, I would imagine, very familiar to some VN'ers:whistling:. I could do without all the wrestling references but that might be another listner's favorite part.

#2 EA. If for no other reason, he's on opposite Heather and Doc. Being a former player, he brings that to the table which is a plus. He's fairly new so he's only going to get better.

#3 Sports Talk. This is hard to admit. I like Wilkerson and being the voice of Vol Baseball makes him pretty good for us baseball fans, sadly not enough baseball for me. As with all the Sports Animal shows, you're gonna get the UT friendly version. Hyams, well...he rocks the boat every now and again which I appreciate and he's late to the party often but, it's the only show that covers a wide variety of sports, NASCAR, Golf, Tennis etc...I've tried to listen to TSR during this time slot and for whatever reason I end up flippin' back to Jimmy and John.

Between those 3 shows I feel like I'm getting both sides of the story, so to speak. Chris Treece (TSR) is sometimes good, sometimes goofy.

When it comes to sheer volume of material related to Volunteers football and basketball, then the Eric Ainge show is my choice. If you are more interested in detailed recruiting information specifically then the Swain Event on TSR has more to give you.

I forgot about Swain, he's pretty good...If Rucker's gone I'll check it out again.

The Erik Ainge Show. Period.

If anyone says Doc, Jeff, and Heather they should be perma-banned immediately.

1) Ainge (TSR)
2) Basilio (TSR)
3) Josh/Will (SA)

Things get silly on all three at times. Most arrogant and irritating - Will.
