I like Archer's ribs. Memphis style...no sauce thrown on them.

Friday is free pork sandwich day at the new Archers at Pellissippi and Kingston Pike. Just walk in for a free sandwich.

Ribs at Sweet Pea's are good.

Archer's
Dead End BBQ
Sweet P's
M&M's is also very good but there is no seating.

This!!!

Sweet p's is out of the way for most, but I absolutely love that place.. Especially the BBQ burrito.. Dead End has the best BBQ nachos.

If anyone has ever heard of the show "Man vs Food" on the Travel Channel, it came to Knoxville and they featured Sweet P's and Ye' Olde Steakhouse. Adam Richman took the 'Gigante Burrito Challenge" at Sweet P's and the food looked great...I've never eaten there and I'm not quite sure where it is but that show definitely makes me want to go.

By the way, Ye' Olde Steakhouse is just not what it used to be since it reopened after the fire many years ago...Most overrated restaurant in Knoxville at the moment, IMO.

I was at Ye Olde when he was there.. Met him and he's a dik.

Dead End BBQ, IMO, is the biggest disappointment of any restaurant I've tried in Knoxville.

The ribs were subpar and the sides were mediocre. The baked beans were actually disgusting and I sent them back. I know other people who agree on the beans, at least.

I would have to agree. Most people I talk to say its the best bbq in Knoxville. The pulled pork is bland, so much so that I had to smother it in their bbq sauce. I agree the sides are terrible as well.

Dead End was okay. I wouldn't say it's better than Calhoun's, but I've only been once.

Sweet P's is very good, but I've only ever tried their pulled pork.

If all else fails, Rendezvous in Memphis ships orders.

I've been pretty disappointed with any of the BBQ places in Knoxville I've tried. The only one I've found that is really good is a little ways out of the city but worth the drive IMO:

Mr. Bob E. Que

I've never had the ribs, but the pulled pork and sides are excellent. Also I'm not even sure if you could fit a group much larger than 10-15 in the building.

Interesting, I think their sides are great. The jalepeno cheese corn muffins are like crack, and the red, white, and blue slaw (with Benton's bacon + blue cheese) is some of the best I've ever had.

Dead End and Archer's are my two favorites. And, I lived in Memphis for 4 years, so I believe I'm qualified to judge. :)

A year or 2 ago, I would have fought over this. I loved that place.

I'm starting to agree now. The last 3 times we've went there it has been extremely disappointing (2 trips were birthday dinners, otherwise I would've probably skipped it). Sides were hit or miss depending what you got, the pulled pork on one trip seemed like it had been heated/reheated who knows how many times, ribs were about Chili's quality, and some chicken my wife got was shockingly dried out and bland.

I don't know if the 2nd location stretched them too thin or what.
