I was wondering what home game next year would be the best to take someone to who has never been to a football game before. i plan on taking my sister to a game in the fall but do not know which one would be the best experience. what do you all think. Auburn, Ga, uSC, UCLA?

If the Georgia game is at night next year, and Tennessee is 4-1 or dare I say it, 5-0 (not likely, but one can dream)...that game would be the best to take someone. Even if it is not at night, the Georgia game is still probably the best.

I would say GA or Auburn.

I didn't think about it, but UCLA might be interesting with Kiffin as coach. It's hard to beat seeing a good SEC match-up in person though.

Im taking my friend who has never been to Neyland to the home opener... I think the crowd is gonna go nuts when Kiffin runs out of the tunnel... Taking him to a rivalry game would be fun, but i figured it would be better to let him see the first game of the season when the butterflies are really churning.

I usually go to 1 or 2 games a year. This year I picked UCLA b/c I figured it would be a night game since they are west coast and probably on ESPN.

I would say Georgia. However, you won't go wrong with any of these.

UCLA, Auburn, Georgia, or South Carolina

Unless you already have season tickets, I would go to which ever one of these I could get the best price on tickets.

Any SEC game. It seems like the intensity of the game, players and fans is so much greater than that of a non conference game.

Opening game is always a good one to see. Particularly this year with the new staff, new enthusiasm and UCLA/Chow in Knoxville.

Oops--UCLA isn't the opener. I forgot. I'd still say UCLA would be a great game to see--early season big name opponent.

Agreed, the home opener would be the best in my book.
You can't miss with Alabama or Florida.
I'd put Georgia, Auburn, LSU on the next level.
I don't think I would pay to see a non-conference weakling, tho
Just My opinion...

yeah.. I expect the home opener to be amazing this year... I've got a feeling the vol walk will have a larger crowd than normal

as previously mentioned, the season opener will be a good one, and should definitely be a win. Then AU, Ga, or SC since they're SEC games.

wait til they go on sale to the general public, that will be better than looking online right now. then you can get them at utsports.com, sans probably the SEC games.

I'll be honest, there really is no bad seat in the house. So, you could get a cheap ticket in upper deck and still see the action pretty well.

Unless they move the UCLA game to night, do not take her to that one unless you like crispy fried sister! TV scheduling has played havoc with some of the early schedules and they ended up in the day time. Based on your home base, you might consider the WKU game. Probable win, first game for the coach, lots of enthusiasm everywhere.

Are there usually a lot of scalpers because I dont want to drive four hours to not find decent tickets

Like VolFan said, there really isn't a bad seat in the house. From my experience, I have sat upper deck and 10 rows behind the bench and I liked the upper deck more b/c I could see more of what was going on.

yeah there's always a bunch of scalpers, but shop around, don't buy the first set you come across. make an offer, if they don't take it (at first), walk away.

I'll probably catch some heat for this, but I'd say the season opener with Western Kentucky, just because it's the "official" beginning of a new era in Vols football. Years from now, I'll be able to look back and say I was there when the Vols began their rise back to the top. Or perhaps be able to say I was there for Kiffin's first game, only to see him run out of town after two or three years. Here’s hoping it’s the first. Still, historic either way.

Plus, can't wait to see Coach O during the Vol Walk!

I am going to try and go to Auburn and usc (jr) this year. Maybe the UCLA game, depends on the budget though.
