You have a strong argument with Knopfler. Kicin' @$$ at guitar is more than having fast fingers and being "creative". You can be very creative without being very technically skilled. To me, Knopfler is the best mix of Creativity, Technical ability, and Syncopation/feel for the context of what he is playing. Not sure if that makes sense to you, but it made sense in my contorted mind.
