I dont have a Culver's in my neck of the woods, but I've heard good things. I like Arby's fish sandwich if I had to choose a favorite.

I wonder if Culver’s has contracted certain fish farmers to provide them with walleyes. I know of one farm in Wisconsin that takes them to market size.

Walleye are native to the Tennessee River. That may be the southernmost extent of their range. They are stocked in deep cold water reservoirs, including Hartwell, Tugaloo, Yonah, Burton, Carter, and Blue Ridge. Anyone know of places south of there?

I believe TWRA stocks Saugeye. I’ve never had it so don’t know how it compares to walleye

I think that’s a cross between a sauger and a walleye. We caught a few back in the day on (I’m pretty sure) part of the French broad.

The idea of ordering a fish sandwich at most of those places makes me want to vomit.

Side note: Shrimp Dock in Knoxville makes a mean shrimp, oyster, or fish po boy with fresh seafood, and it's delicious and quite reasonable.

Otherwise, I can blacken or grill some grouper, snapper, or cobia from there myself.

The 3 staples of good eating fish. There was a open air seafood joint in St. Marks, FL that had a great fried grouper sammich.

My personal favorites, out side those 3:
Balckened Red Fish
Walleye/Sauger
Trout/Salmon
Pompano (Was so good as a kid vacaying in FL, I still remember the quality of this gem)
Catfish
Crappy

If I was the only one I was feeding my diet would prob be 70% fish/seafood. I'm totally chill with the red meat consumption being venison, but wife only eats the jerky. I did sneak in a 50/50 mix in the burgers recently. She's not as good at detection as she thinks. lol. In my single days, the majority of my meat and trout supply was self provided. Freezing fish in water basically preserves the hook to plate flavor.

Back in the day visiting PCB area, you would pass ice carts set up on the side of the road like road side veggie stand selling fresh shrimp catches of the day at really good prices. We'd get several bags on the way out. Last trips to PCB over last 6 years, I noticed those don't seem to exist anymore.

But, I digress. You brought up Grouper anyways and I got hungry.

Oddly enough, I saw a lady rate the best fish sandwiches online, as I was scrolling the web the other night during the middle of the night. She ranked Culver’s #1

I miss the trucks on the side of the road with coolers full of grouper from my St Pete/Tampa days.

Also, a bit of an FYI: Shrimp Dock often has Royal Reds, but you have to know to ask for them.

I'll agree. Walleye is one of the best eating fish, had that from Culver's, and was not disappointed.
Steak of the lake, I have never eaten a fish sandwich from a fast food restaurant but I am very intrigued by this walleye sandwich from Culvers. Grew up catching them on Watauga and South Holston.

Headed for Miramar Beach soon. Grouper is what l'lI have most evenings.
In general though fish is much better in the north. Cold water.

There is Shrimp, and then there is Royal Reds. Whole different level of shrimp.

We have a Bubba Gandy Seafood in town. We can get our crawfish there in the spring and not have to order them from Cajun country. Got all kinds of other Cajun stuff and meats. Then they got an iced seafood cooler with nice selections of fish and seafood. AND Royal Reds. Only place in town you can get them. They even have head-on shrimp. Which is the only item they say comes in frozen.
