Best Case Coaching Scenario for all sides

No more Sal. He had his chance and has failed miserably. And without major injuries.

He has the slowest and weakest defense to coach that has worn the orange and white since I started watching in 1989. I don't know if Sal is the right man but we have Lathers and a few others that will make a handful of good plays a game, but when quarterbacks run around the outide and outrun the defense seventy yards for a td, that tells me we have no speed. Also we are missing that leader. The Berry, Jason Allen, Al Wilson, Leonard little type players that were great and made everyone else around them better. I don't think in one year you can judge Sal's coaching skills, especially with the product he has to work with. GO VOLS!:rock:

I feel like the best case scenario for the team, recruits, UTAD, coaches, and lastly the fans would be the following:

1. Get rid of one of the 2 DB coaches, or possible both and consolidate into 1 position like it is usually is
2. Hire a stud LB coach so Sal can focus solely on DC job, or demote Sal to LB coach and bring in another DC with a multiple system ( perhaps 4-3 base, perhaps 3-4, whatever we can execute better)
3. Evaluate the job of the DL Ciach and see of he should be retained

As far as Head Coach goes, Dooley should stay through his contract bc/ the team is showing major improvement on offense and in competitiveness......

When a program is left to die, which is the basic state that Fulmer, then Kiffin left it in, it can take a minimum of 4-5 years to rebuild..... Sal's Defense and the backend communication is the biggest problem....

Dooley oversees Offense and Special Teams, which overall have both been good.... Dooley made a bad choice with Sal, but it's not smart to fire Pittman, Graham, Chaney, Coiner, etc bc/ of the Defense.....

Even though the Defense is playing poor, the secondary's poor players and lack of a pass rush are largely to blame too.....so part of it is talent which will take time to recruit more speed and more talent in.....

I know it's been a tough year but Dooley will
Get the job done....I don't think a 6-9 million
Dollar buyout will help the program, and if
I was Dooley I would not resign bc the Defensive Coordinator was bad and the other guy split bc he couldn't take the pressure....

Oh come on...You have no idea what your talking about...Keeping Dooley means a lot of lost revenue...Much more than the 9 million it will take to buy him and his coaches out...He has shown ZERO improvement anywhere...In fact just gotten worse over time...the offense plays well at times but for a group of juniors I would hope they would...Dooley has no idea how to finish games, He has no clue what he is doing DURING games...He is lost out there and it shows...It shows...We need improvement and a coach who has a clue...You wanting to keep Dooley proves you do not care about this program or what direction it is going.

Best Case Coaching Scenario is for Dooley to be out of a job in Knoxville.

We've been down this road. Dooley changed almost all of his staff last year. Kinda obvious who/what the problem is.

Yes it is....the impatient fan base expecting any coach to come in here and beat the top teams in the nation from the top conference in the nation in 2 years with a program that in 3 years prior retained 3 out of 41 four star players that played more than 1 year....we were almost, as you might say, coming out of a death penalty....it was that bad....now we have an offense that is continuely getting better....just need to work on defense...stay off these boards bashing this team.....when you bash Dooley...you are bashing this team...either back them or stay home....
