Gladstone"s in Malibu,California. Absolutey gorgeous. That's what a seaside bar is my friends on the vn.:dance2:

the food at gladstones isn't fit for human consumption. that and the drinks are overpriced. i prefer moonshadows for the on the beach, hot chicks, vastly overprice drinks "bar."

I lived in Hillsboro Village for several years and spent some time at the Villager. I generally enjoyed my time there best when Henry Pairrot (sp?) was behind the bar. A very engaging conversationalist. It is my understanding that Henry now operates one or more bars in Knoxville. If I ever have a reason to go back there I hope to look-up his place.

Henry and I are tighter than two ticks.

What years were you in the villiager?? we may have met.

I just put in a call to find out about his places in K-town, news to me.

He and his better half got crosswired and he gave her the Villager and another coolest place you never heard of, one of his children are one of my favorite people, I'm expecting great things some day.

Henry opened another joint across the river, it was the lobby bar in the old 'king of the road' Inn.

I was there the night Roger Miller opened that place and there when Henry had his own grand opening, the "Pandhandlers of Love" played for Henry's opening.

His old lady hasn't the first clue as to how to run a cool place the way Henry can.

BTW Henry had a column for years in the Tennessean and they ditched him for a couple of week and before he could be published again he had to promise not to insert anything political in his column, he only submitted a story that was a natter of public record. I hate Gannett more than you can imagine!!!

Be sure to let me know where his joints are in Knucksvul
should you find out.

Memphis, a little neighborhood beer bar with a history,
Charlie Rich and others used to hang out there, can be cool at times, some interesting people come in at times, it is located between Zinnies East and Zinnies West on Madison. Hueys on Madison isn't too bad.

Overton Square used to be the place to rock but it's almost dead now.

I've been to Zinnie's East a few times, it's mostly a Rhodes hangout. I live in midtown so celtic crossing is a walk for me. Wild Bill's is the best blues and environment in town though, can't buy liquor though. Only sells 40's and food. But you can bring in whatever liquor you want.
