“Oh, I’d love to have a chance,” Berry said early Saturday evening. “I could learn it. I could learn it this year. I’d really like a chance to get back on offense. I just miss handling the ball. But right now the coaches just seem to want me to make plays on defense only.”
From the Times Free Press. I wonder if he's getting frustrated? That last sentence definitely seems to imply he might be getting a little fed up.

The "I could learn it this year" probably wasn't a dig, but it sure could be construed that way.

I think he would play well under pressure in a game situation. He seems to be very aware of what's going on in a game.

He probably should be frustrated. He was promised he'd have an opportunity to play some offense, specifically at quarterback. And, it's not as if the offense is really producing points without him.

Did you see how many times the CBS crewed would film him on the sideline... He was pissed.. Constantly rolling his eyes and at one point threw his helmet from a seated position... he was extremely upset..

It would be nice to see Berry get some snaps on offense. line him up out wide and send him deep, open the middle of the field up. run a reverse to him, anything to start making some plays on offense.

If Urban Myer or Les Miles had Berry, you could be your bottom dollar he'd be playing both sides. Unfortunately, that's too risky for our coaching staff.

as long as Phil is at the helm, you can forget Berry at QB. For some reason, Phil is personally indebted to Crompton at QB, and I guarantee you he will start against Northern Illinois this weekend.

Berry would have been better off to go elsewhere. He is probably figuring that out right now.

another example of Fulmer wasting talent. I used that line in the B. Warren thread earlier. Good job Phillip

Mark Jones played both sides of the ball, why can't Berry? With the way this offense is right now, it's time to get the best playmakers on the team on the field on offense, and that includes Berry. And maybe the coaches can find B. Warren on the sidelines to stick him in the game also.

Assuming you want Berry at qb....

Let's not forget a lot of pass plays are reliant on timing between a qb and the receivers. Right now we have Crompton, Stephens & Jones (G-Gun) getting snaps during practice with the 1st team O. No doubt Berry is a remarkable player and could probably do both at some capacity, but if we are going to ever get consistent play at the qb position, they have to get the most reps they can to the eventual starter. Maybe DC & CPF feel adding Berry into the mix at this point may be counter productive (taking snaps away from full-time QB's and less snaps for Berry on D during practice)? Just a thought....

I agree.

Timing is everything in the backfoeld and then what if we run him and he gets drilled and hurts something...Then he is out on both sides of the ball and people here would be screaming that Fulmer is an idiot for playing him there...He is a safety and a damn good one and will be playing that position on Sundays...Plus the D is always on the field so he would get more field time...Sorry had to add the last part.:)

I think Pickens would be an even better example but guys, why in the world is there this big hang-up in trying to fit a "great athlete" square peg into a round hole at QB? I mean, the Browns are having some QB issues, WTH isn't Jamal or Stallworth lining up at QB? They're good athletes.

Look, I know that Berry played some QB in HS and frankly having a WildBerry thing doesn't sound all that bad but there's a reason Berry was never even considered being recruited as a QB. It's because he isn't a college QB. This teams problems are at having a REAL QB, not fiddling around with having a handful of plays split into packages for WR's and DB's.

Having said that once we have, say, Stephens in place and he shows some kind of ability to throw the ball down the field I think Berry lined up opposite Jones at WR with Warren at TE could look pretty darn scary to a defense.

We need Berry as a reciever, G-gun as qb, and whoever at back...Berry could get himself open and make plays down field, G-gun would be a duel threat and our back would keep the D honest...Sound pretty damn good to me.
