Berry at Safety

Just because Johnson was the CB on that play does not automatically mean he was the one burt. Someone mentioned they saw him sitting on a short route. I saw him sit and appear to cover the flat paying no attention to the WR running past him. That leads me to believe we might have been in a certain zone coverage that play where he was suppose to cover the flat and Berry was suppose to cover deep on the left hash. Certainly not sure about it one way or the other. But, I think Johnson played a pretty solid game. I think him and Berry has always been our best combo at CB.

McKenzie is having a lot of trouble getting proper alignments and assignments. He basically just comes in on certain nickel packages and rushes the QB. He still has a ways to come mentally.

And, on a side note, Fulmer has stated that it was Berry who blew the coverage on the long TD and not Johnson. I knew what I saw.

Yeah,

Berry messed up. They were playing shell coverage (Cover 2), and Berry has over the top responsibilities in that scheme. Johnson rightly played the flats, but the over the top help did not get there.

Berry is a better fit at corner and that is where he should stay.

I like Kemp to become a solid contributor.

Kemp the 5th DB in the Mustang package?

With Florida using the spread with 4 WR I would think he would play a lot against Florida in the mustang package.

In the mustang package, is UT primarily using 3 DL and 3 LB or 4 DL and 2 LB?

I realize it is early on in his career, but berry, in time will remind people of jack tatum out of osu and raider, fame or infamy. i think he , too, will hit people harder each game. as to florida vs berry, what the hell start him either place let him find the ballcarrier and smack him in the mouth. i would love to see him, 15 lbs heavier and one year older, playing tatums old headhunter position. next season he could do this if given the opportunity.

Berry and Hef are our two best corners...if someone else could just step up and play the safety spots!
