Before there even was a phrase: Vol-For-Life!

Not much going on right now….

Thought I’d put out some highlights of probably the BEST natural-talented athlete that ever wore the Orange & White.

(The Bernie & Ernie show was a sight to behold!) - many other highlights on YouTube.
Look him up on Wikipedia, too!

Coach Ray Mears & John Ward said that he was the best athlete that they’ve ever seen!

For the OG’s & the Young-en’s
He was a BEAST! — Enjoy!….

Great soundtrack on that video

Stokely tickets were hard to get but we could get tickets for the Volunteer Classic at Christmas time. King, Grunfeld, Darden, Johnson, they were fun to watch. Listened to John Ward call the games on the radio most of the other games. Bernard King was DANG GOOD! I was still in High School, fun times!
I went to the Vol Classic when Tennessee played Clemson & Tree Rollins. Great game.

There are five retired jerseys. 5, 14, 20, 22, 53. But you need to add a center. Kosmalski or Reggie. And maybe a PG. Woods, Bone, ZZ, Chandler, Shultz, or Darden. Possibly White, but he’d be a combo guard playing as a PG. There’s only one basketball. If King (inside) and Houston or Lofton (outside) are on the same team you have plenty of scorers and need defenders to round out a roster. Ellis was a great defender.
Boerwinkle played in the NBA 10 years & helped win a SEC championship. I’d take him

Good point. But he wasn’t a very skilled basketball player at the start of his UT career. He developed quickly though (probably thanks to Stu Aberdeen). I think that Boerwinkle was UT’s first 7 footer and Kosmalski was the second. There haven’t been many others. Hamer. Brykalski. Uros.

Kosmalski was All-SEC in each of his 3 years. He had skills. Boerwinkle was FIRST team All-SEC as a junior and senior.

A UT team with Boerwinkle and King would have grabbed nearly every rebound.

Yes, and Grunfeld was an underrated rebounder
