Before there even was a phrase: Vol-For-Life!
Not much going on right now….
Thought I’d put out some highlights of probably the BEST natural-talented athlete that ever wore the Orange & White.
(The Bernie & Ernie show was a sight to behold!) - many other highlights on YouTube.
Look him up on Wikipedia, too!
Coach Ray Mears & John Ward said that he was the best athlete that they’ve ever seen!
For the OG’s & the Young-en’s
He was a BEAST! — Enjoy!….
King was so good that he had his own set of rules while everyone else, on the team, had to follow a different set of rules.
He was caught on camera stealing expensive video equipment from the athletic department and everyone looked the other way and made excuses for his behavior.
When you hoop the way he did at UT, the world is your oyster![]()
He actually just took that stuff to his own room and set it up for useKing was so good that he had his own set of rules while everyone else, on the team, had to follow a different set of rules.

At one point that was true. But that’s changed in the past 20 years. He probably doesn’t get down here as often as we all would like but he’s been on campus numerous times since his number got retired (about 20 years ago).King was a handful when at UT. He hasn't been around campus much since going pro. I really don't know how to gauge his VFL status.
Me too. I saw the game they played agains UCLA when they had on of those "best team money can buy" teams in Atlanta. Not many remember that hey had a lot of very good players on hat team. Ray Mears was one of the best coachers I have ever sen.It was comical to see King walking around with Stu Aberdeen who was maybe 5' 2 or 3 but was a terrific recruiterI was there for the Ernie & Bernie show. Saw it live and in person. One of the bright lights of my matriculation.
Dang right dale could defend…. Just ask ralph samoson ….There are five retired jerseys. 5, 14, 20, 22, 53. But you need to add a center. Kosmalski or Reggie. And maybe a PG. Woods, Bone, ZZ, Chandler, Shultz, or Darden. Possibly White, but he’d be a combo guard playing as a PG. There’s only one basketball. If King (inside) and Houston or Lofton (outside) are on the same team you have plenty of scorers and need defenders to round out a roster. Ellis was a great defender.
Rodney and ZZ would be the only 2 that would qualify in that group, IMO.There are five retired jerseys. 5, 14, 20, 22, 53. But you need to add a center. Kosmalski or Reggie. And maybe a PG.
