$18 For A Michelob Ultra: 'Beer-Flation' Hits PGA Championship | ZeroHedge

After spending hundreds of dollars for a basic ticket to walk around the course, watching players tee off or sink a putt (or miss a crucial putt), many craved a refreshing cold beer. However, 'beer-flation' hit the PGA as it costs $18 for a Michelob Ultra and $19 for a Stella Artois.

Pro-golfer Justin Thomas, who is in the tournament, tweeted Monday, "$18(!!!!!!) for a beer… uhhhh what. Gotta treat the fans better than that!"

Just like college and pro venues that overcharge for everything, this will continue until people stop buying it en masss. Once these concessions companies start losing massive amounts of money, they'll lower their prices to reasonable levels.

Of course, the lack of competition is also a factor. Single source contracts given to these companies keep others from getting in and actually being able to offer lower prices.

Like many things in the entertainment world, if you hold a monopoly over something, you can charge what you want.

Which is ridiculous. I did however see another article where unlimited food and beverages were included in the $195 ticket price. You could only get 2 sandwiches/wraps, 2 sides (chips or whatever), and 2 beverages at a time but you could go through as many times as you wanted.

Normally, alcohol isn't a part of that. But I could be wrong.
