I'm in the TN Air National Guard unit in Knoxville. A couple weeks ago I left home for Baghdad where I'll enjoy the hot summer months. During an orientation briefing here an older gentlemen asked those of us in the room (about 50 or so) if any of us were from the south. I replied that I was from Tennessee. To my surprise, he looks at me like he was about to throw up. Next he shakes his head like I had just punched him and says, "Ugh, I can't stand Tennessee football."
Turns out this old Air Force guy was from an Air National Guard unit in Georgia and a big Bulldog fan. We spoke for a few minutes about football and other things. He was a really nice guy, said he was interested in how things with CLK turns out, and other than the fact he was glad to meet a fellow southerner/SEC football fan, said he hopes I have a terrible time this Fall. I wished him the same.
Kind of cool, I thought, that while I might dislike him for where he's from and the team he likes, we had a great discussion with mutual respect.
I only right this because its a slow news day in the offseason, and being on the other side of the world I pretty much live and die by news on the Vols.
BTW, Lord willing, I'll be home the last week in August...just in time!:yahoo:
