I think you guys can do it. I hope your defense steps up and snuffs them.Best of luck. I know it's only Tuesday, but man I can't wait. There are some really good games this weekend.

Thanks FG. Do you attend CU or just live in Clemson? I have a house on keowee and only 5 miles from there?

I am looking forward to our match up this year for sure!

Thanks FG. We definately CAN do it. Hope they believe that as I do. "Good Defense" and solid tackling, no turnovers, and a few key plays will get it done. I hope your boys stomp SF. As I'd prefer my gator cooked to "over-confident" on the 18th.

Live right outside Clemson in Central. I pass Keowee every day on the way to work, though. Next time you're in the area, we could get lunch or you could join in on some Volleyball and Football games I have going on.

My son has soccer games almost every weekend through Nov 15th in ATL. However, I plane on being up soetime soon. Surely lunch would be easy to make - somewhere to watch games.

I will reach out then.

Reading the ESPN Oregon message boards they are predicting 49-6.......98% of Oregons fans think this is a cupcake game.

Sounds good. I typically watch the games in Greenville with the Gator Club, but you'd be invited. We share the place with Gamecocks and Dawgs, though. Really good atmosphere.

I do not mind representing the Vols in enemy territory! LOL
I am sure it is a good time!

Most under the age of 25 I'd wager. While I'd love to see a score like that I see no cupcake game.

Ahhh, a Duck with a voice of reason. Welcome to the board. I am not saying we will win but I think the score will be much much closer. I do not think we will pull another UCLA this year.

I say let them keep thinking that!

This game will keep me to until next Saturday. One part of me thinks Tennessee will hit them in the mouth, the other side is very concerned with our depth and youth.

We need to throw the first punch, Crowd needs to be louder than it has EVER been. I hope the fans at the game understand we REALLY need the 12th man.

I have been thinking of anyway possible to come down for this game, if I did I would scream until my throat was bleeding and could not talk for weeks.

I think Oregon's strengths are speed and D at this point. We're pretty good at stopping the run, not so good at stopping the pass. That is to say it seems to be our mantra -- stop the run, give up a 25 yard pass play, then stop them on downs. We've adhered to this going back to when Bellotti was coach.

A big plus for us has been the addition of D line coach Jerry Azzinaro last year. He's done wonders (expect for the Rose bowl of course :eek:hmy: ) The addition of LaMichael James in the backfield will be another positive for us as well. I hear we're looking to do more 2 back formations this year with Barner and James.

Youth at QB is a concern as well. If I had my druthers I would have liked to see this game in mid season when Thomas had a chance to get into a groove. If turn overs are low, could be a close one. If either side turns it over a lot could be a long day.

I am right there with you. Unfortunately, I will not make K-Town until Florida and probably not again until Ole Miss.

Yea, no one expects this to be an easy game by any means. I think both teams finish with around 20 to 28 points. Probably a 3 to 7 point game.

Turnovers and special teams is where this will be won or lost in my opinion. SHould be a good match up as our run game is our strength due to the inexpereinced receivers and QB. The WR are loaded with talent but a shallow line will be protecting. It will be a game of truth for both as we will surely see where each our program lies after this weekend.

Good luck!

I'm looking forward to it. I know that 'on paper' we shouldn't be able to play with them, but think we've got a reasonably good shot. They are reasonably one-dimensional offensively - can't line up and smash you in the mouth all day like Bama, for instance. Now, they can run and throw it, but their game depends primarily on speed. I also wonder how good their QB will be throwing it. He obviously has little experience throwing it against real competition (sure, Simms does too, but we knew that and everyone talks about it. But, as far as I know, OU is in the same boat.)

I think Wilcox can make things very difficult for them with our defense. Our biggest weakness on Defense is obviously DT - but that's not going to be significant against the Ducks, imo. Don't think it's likely that they're going to line up and try to stuff the ball down our throats between the tackles. No, they're going to try to get outside, throw the screens, run the draws, and throw the ball downfield. My guess is that the we'll play 3-4 DE's on the field for most of the game. And we're legitimately 2 deep for 3 DE's on the field at a time. Imagine that Motori and the DT's will rotate at one spot, for the most part (this is just in general. Think we'll still have 2 DT's on 3rd and 2 if there is sub time).

We're also 2-3 deep at every LB spot, with legitimate contributors. Can be fresh there for the entire game if our offense has any success at all. For the secondary, I have more concern. We're about 1.5 deep at corner and maybe 1.5 deep at safety. Feel good about all three corners and have a feeling that Brewer can step up and play well at safety - not sure who else, though.

So, in short, I don't really believe the hype about us having little talent and depth on Defense, at least. Think that's overblown. Included in that statement/assumption is Jacques Smith/Corey Miller. Anybody think they're gonna be weak links for our defense? Secondary is clearly our biggest question mark. I'm anxious to see them get more action to see how they react. I feel pretty good about Gordon/Teague/Evans/Jackson/Wagner/Brewer. Not sure if they can get it done against the Ducks, but we'll see.

Offensively, it will obviously be tougher. Can our OL get it done? What about Simms? INT's are the key stat for him, imo. We can win with 50% completions if the INT's are slim or none. Luckily, that's the area that he seems to have been best at in the fall scrimmages and for UTM.

Special teams? Like I've said all summer - I'll believe that we're better when I see it. Haven't seen it too much yet. We had better kick coverage against UTM, but worrisome FG's and punt/kick catching. I'm kind of hoping that there's a guy with some wiggle that we don't need on offense or defense much who can catch maybe 100 punts a day all week long (I imagined Meline, but not sure a true freshman makes sense back there). Gotta catch the thing first. Gordon claims that he's gonna catch it for sure, tho. We may see that, too.

GBO!
