We need to take Ted Lasso’s advice and let this one float on by. I don’t think anyone would disagree that we didn’t play well overall, particularly on defense. The offense had a lot of explosive plays but then couldn’t string plays together and sustain drives. So they disappeared for 2 quarters. How many turnovers did we have? Big questions about the defense going forward. Tackling was abysmal. Gave up way too many chunk plays with their receivers running wide open 20+ yards down the field. Defensive play calling was suspect at times. Lots of blitzing but we still didn’t get consistent pressure on the quarterback. Had single coverage on their star receiver on one of their long TDs with no safety help over the top. The one where their big receiver caught it and we allowed him to just rumble down the sideline to the end zone was a clown show of tackling.
So the point of that rant was we never should have put ourselves in a position of even being in overtime or having a single bad officiating call affect the outcome of the game. We did it to ourselves.
So let’s just move on. In the grand scheme of UT football this isn’t our defining moment. It only serves to highlight what we need to work on.
When is the February signing day?
When does spring practice start?
The star of UT football is still ascending. Let’s concentrate on that and look forward. How many days til our next game?

Good point. It was tough to take because of how much above expectations the season went overall. Just a really bad way to end things.

I think I was made more angry by the team’s letdown because I am in Miami and staying at the same hotel as the Georgia football team (gross). Their idiot fans are too much to stomach on a night when the VOLS priced that we aren’t close yet to being back where we want to be.

Kinda hard to do when there is an injury time out every third play.

They need to let this one sting for a little bit. It will make them better in the long run, particularly coaches but players as well
