BCS Champs Ranked

Ok....I know that FSU was the first wire to wire champion but #3....honestly I would put Tennessee around the 3-4 spot...Miami,USC, and UT (2) toss-up...it was good to see tOSU ranked at #9 though

We began that year with a #10 preseason ranking. I wonder what team was ranked lowest pre-season.

EDIT OU was ranked 19th pre-season

I don't think I'd put that Oklahoma team over the '98 Vols. Not so sure that FSU team would have beaten us or the 04 Longhorns, either.

Reading the synopsis of the season brought back some great memories.

we beat 5 ranked teams on the road and finished undefeated... no other team on that list can say that.

I agree that I would have the Vols a few spots higher, but # 6 is certainly not a slam. It is debatable. Tennessee had four good scares where they could have easily lost: Syracuse, Florida, Auburn, and Arkansas. Not many of the teams on that list had that many close calls. You could argue that the competition was generally stronger for the Vols, but still... five ranked teams, four scares? I am happy with 6. Could easily have been 4 or 5 though.

I hate seeing a USC team that was barely tested so close to the top. Wasn't that also the year that Reggie Bush pushed Leinart over the goal line to beat ND?
