Where in Richmond do you live? I won't highjack the thread, but I went to VCU grad school and lived in the Fan near the Sidewalk Cafe. Loved Richmond. Except for all the ACC-dominated coverage, of course.
nice. I live on the West End; I really don't spend a lot of time in the downtown areas you mentioned, but I know there's a lot of partying down there. Cary St. and Monument Ave. are really interesting. And yeah, you're right about the ACC stuff. It's like 95% Tech/5% UVA. It's weird; it's not that super far from TN, but it may as well be another country. You can't find a Vol shirt or cap anywhere around here. I miss Rocky Top. If you get back up this way anytime, we'll have to get together, maybe watch a game.
I hear ya on all points. I went out after we beat Florida in 2001 and had a few pops and convinced this bar band to let me sing Rocky Top with them, and nobody else knew why I was so giddy except the 3 friends I was with. They loved it.
West End is nice. If you ever want tasty Cuban food, check out Kuba Kuba in the Fan. It's worth the trip into town.
I don't know who on here was at the game and who was following online/listening to the radio broadcast.
My Dad was there and said the Cal/Pa team was not good and that it was hard to determine too much from the game b/c the team was so loose and easy going and not really too challenged. But he did say they're quick, very athletic, and can shoot the 3. He said Pearl didn't press much in this game. He said Brian Williams looked good but needs to work on his defensive footwork. And my Mom made the call that Steven Pearl is the next Dane Bradshaw. Maybe she heard that somewhere.
Anyone want to add to or dispute anything my lovely parents passed along?
i was there.
we didn't take much from the game other than the athleticism that this team had. points were easy to come by.
the inside of TBA is effing ridiculous.
