Just got back from watching UT play an exhibition game at the Tommy Bowl. It's early and it's hard to tell how talented this team is but I liked some of what I saw. This team likes to run and shoot the ball as the 110 points would indicate. I was anxious to see Scooter McFagdon play but he never really got on track and really didn't push the issue. He finished with 12 points. I think CJ Watson is improved this year. He looks a little quicker off the dribble. Brandon Crump was his usual self going 9-12 for 19 points. I was impressed with Hendrix, the transfer from Clemson. He will not be a huge scorer but he had 13 rebounds and looks to have nice hands. He had several tip-ins. Stanley Asumnu came out agressive and led the Vols with 25 points. I heard he added 15 pounds in the wait room which allows him to finish better around the basket. I am not sure how consistent he can be, but he looks to be playing with more confidence. Major Wingate is a pretty big boy and I have to say I was most surprised by his ability. He is only a Freshman but has decent court presence and handles the ball well for a big man. He also has a nice touch on his shot for a big man. John Winchester has worked on his shot in the offseason and looks to have better rotation but after his play last year it wil take a lot to convince me that he is not an accident waiting to happen. Dane Bradshaw was supposed to be highly touted and there was some talk last year that he could come in and challenge CJ Watson for playing time. I saw absolutely no signs that he can contribute whatsoever this year. He looked lost and looked slow on offense and defense especially for a point guard. As for Boomer Herdon, Justin Albrecht, and Lou Wright, I don't see any of them getting much court time this season.
