Thomas transferred to Baylor ahead of the 2024 campaign after spending two seasons at Northeast Mississippi CC, a JUCO program. Thomas tallied 99 tackles, a sack, three pass breakups and an interception this season. He was even more impressive in 2024, racking up 106 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a pick. For his efforts, he was named an All-Big 12 First-Team selection.

Before coming to Baylor, Thomas was a standout at the JUCO level. In 2023 alone, Thomas notched 107 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and two interceptions. His 11.9 tackles per game were the second-most in the NJCAA. In turn, Keaton Thomas was the No. 2 linebacker JUCO recruit in the 2024 recruiting cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. He’ll immediately be one of the most sought-after defenders in the transfer portal this offseason.

Baylor standout linebacker Keaton Thomas is also someone we think Tennessee could look at with the loss of Arion Carter. He announced his intention to enter the portal this week.

I’m not sure about the quantity being greater than last year but the quality, across the board seems greater. Port hole season is going to be crazy again this year. Hopefully Tennessee is a major player.

AP seemed to hint at roughly 10 this year. We took 7 last year.
QB (1)
RB (1) - .....
DT (2) - very disappointed at the DT talent level in the portal at the moment. Still we.need older guys in the room that have played and started at other schools
S (2) ....
CB (1) - maybe @OrangeMoundTNVol is right.
Maybe 4 DBs. If we take 2 CBs
LB (1) - this one isn't getting the publicity as the other positions. We may need to take 2.
DE (1) another spot many feel doesn't need a transfer portal guy, but maybe we do?

They think they have a shot at the number 1 DE and play in the portal right now

And that makes me wonder about “fit”

I wonder if a guy like Chrisrtian Gass fits in the new scheme. He’s what 6’3” 220 ? I say make him fit.

Trick would be a tremendous add. He’s 6’4 250 and plays with agility and leverage very well.
