Baylor at Tennessee - 2016

Schools do make up the conferences, but there is no way the commissioner is going to refer to a coach on whether of not they should play a certain school in a conference challenge when there is a contract and its all about the ratings and money. Plus this matchup will bring great publicity to both schools. Now I can see them not helping Texas A&M in anyway because they bolted for the SEC. I just don't believe[Mulkey possess the kind of power where she can call the Athletic Director, School President or Conference Commissioner and say I do not want my team to face Tennessee in the BIG XII/SEC Challenge. /B]This game will draw to many viewers and I'm sure money talks for the commissioner to say no. Mulkey played us when our team was very young because we had 6 seniors that left Griner senior season. The following season when Griner and the big senior class departed she canceled the series. She knew we had a top recruiting class coming and our team had improved. So she canceled the series. Say what you want, but Mulkey on schedules team that she think her team will beat to boost her winning percentage to look good in the eyes of recruits. We'll see how Baylor's nonconference is this season. If Baylor signs Cox, I bet she schedules all the top teams again.

Think of the kind of power Coach Pat had at UT, that's the kind of power + that Kim has at Baylor. Ian McCaw (Under Armour AD of the Year) and Judge Starr (lifted Bill Clinton's law license) listen to each and every word Kim says, BMDs make sure of that.

As for Commissioner Bob Blowsme (lol), name speaks for itself. He's so afraid of Kim he sent an assistant to Waco to present this season's Championship Trophy...she still ripped him a new one in person (he can't duck the Conference Tourney)..

I wouldn't bet the farm on the conference offices being the big, bad daddy in this. Case in point:the 2014 Texas Bowl in Houston.

The SEC and BIG XII have an anual agreement with the Texas Bowl to send reps to play each year. A&M and Texas ended the year with the same records. In the first year of the CFP and would have been the most watched and talked about game of the bowl season outside of the CFPs themselves. A kings ransom could be had at the gate (oil money would make sure of that) and the conferences couldn't evev hope to buy publicity like that. Game never happened. Why?

Back to WBB. A&M and Baylor are natural rivals. They are 90 miles apart along Hwy 6, both located along the Brazos River ("Battle of the Brazos), Gary and Kim are close friends going back to their days at La Tech and yet they haven't played each other in this series yet. Why? When A&M bolted for the SEC Kim said she would never schedule them again...they left Texas, let them go. If the series continues to be renewed Baylor will have to play them but most likely after Kim retires.

The schools have more say in this than some think. What is the conference without the schools? Who appoints the commissoners? If Kim didn't want to play Tennessee she wouldn't be playing Tennessee.

I don't know about other situations, but I know about this one. ESPN wanted that matchup to happen and it was put together by they and the conferences over the objection of one of the schools involved. I'll let you guess which one.

I hope Glory and Btittney are in the stands, that could be more interesting than the game.

Would we really want to watch them, who knows domestic violence might breakout in the stands. I really want to see the WNBA take a stand against domestic violence, because same sex domestic violence is no different than any other form of domestic violence.

I agree with scheduling more Top 25, but some coaches just say no. What can Holly say? Maryland has repeatedly say no. Duke finally said yes for 2016. Cal said no. UCLA said no. Georgia Tech said no because of recruiting purposes. Baylor backed out after Griner graduated. UNC said no. Miami said no. Florida State said no. Oklahoma said no. We all know that the UConn series will never happen. Scheduling is tough when many programs simply refuse to play you in the regular season. I think a lot of this will stop if the committee will make non-conference scheduling an important factor when it comes to seeding and location. There are a lot of programs that simply just hate Tennessee and want the Lady Vols to fall off period. There's a lot of negative/dirty recruiting that opposing programs use to try to steer recruits from coming to Tennessee. One is that Tennessee does not develop players. That's simply not true when the entire senior class was drafted in the WNBA. There are a lot of things that goes on behind the scenes that we as fans will be shocked if we knew. Recruiting on the Women's side is creeping slowly, but surely as it is on the men's side. That's simply because the NCAA does not police women's recruiting like they do the men. Holly is doing the best she can to get quality opponents to play the Lady Vols.

I am not doubting anyone who say that top 10 teams dodge Tennessee and bad mouth us, but it is hard to believe it is because they all hate Tennessee. Maybe you know more than I do about the subject. I do admit that recruiting top Women's basketball talent has become a cutthroat business in recent yours. Recruiting tactic cannot be the same as in the early days. It is hot in the recruiting game and if you can't deal with the heat you will get eaten alive.

I have to believe that top 10 recruiters not only bad mouth Tennessee but other top teams as well. We talk about how nice Holly is, and that is great, however, sometimes you get a little dirt under your finger nails in the recruitment game. I have a hard time believing it is us against the women basketball world. If it is, shame on all of them, because if not for Pat and the Lady Vols none of them would be where they are today.

It is hard to get home and home series. Duke finally said yes after constantly saying no. Texas was about to cancel. UCLA said NO. Cal, Maryland, Oklahoma, Baylor, UNC, Florida State, Georgia Tech and some more that I probably left off said NO. I'm not trying to paint a picture as if its the Lady Vols against the world, but there are a lot of programs that refuse to play Tennessee. Some I get why, but some I have no idea.

It's actually Bowisby but it still adds up. He attended "Moorehead" State and was AD at left (limp wrist) coast Stanford. The same Stanford that conspired with Cal to "cock" block any potential move by aTm (military) and Baylor (Religious) to the Pac.

We Texas schools both got what we wanted and the Pac got Utah and Colorado lol. Blowsme is like gas...he will soon pass.

Haha, the irony in all that is crazy!!

Btw, I think Baylor has a real legitimate ff4 shot this year, as well as being a nc contender. Gotta be excited about that really good pg coming in as well..well she have to sit out this season?

If you're referring to Alexis Jones, she sat out this past season and will be eligible to play in 2015-16.
