Currently 10-0 SDSU midway through the 2nd. They won last year and lead the series 31-27-4 in a series that dates back to 1923 when both teams were in the Southern California Junior College Conference.
The winner gets the Old Oil Can. As far as the story goes, when the teams and fans used to make the 300-plus miles to the other campus schools, the cars carried extra cans of oil on trips in case of emergency. After one game, a Fresno oil can was found on the SDSU campus, and the Old Oil Can was born.
