It’s the 107th meeting in a rivalry dating all the way back to 1892. The two played yearly from 1919-1998 (including playing each other twice in 1926, because why not?) before Penn State’s joining of the conference made it a “played every 8 out of 11 years” matchup before further realignment changed it even further. Michigan has won the last 5 meetings and leads the series 78-25-3, with Minnesota’s last win coming 7 matchups ago in 2014.
It’s also the oldest trophy game in FBS football. The winner gets The Little Brown Jug: one of the most regularly exchanged rivalry trophy in college football and the , the second oldest rivalry trophy overall, next to Arizona/Arizona State’s Territorial Cup (which was created in 1899 and did not become a travelling trophy until 2001),
The trophy jug has each team’s logo and main color on either side, along with the scores of each game in the rivalry.
