Just got back home. 8+ hour drive back.

Got down Thursday night. You could feel the buzz. Nothing like a SEC town before a big game.

Friday the LSU fans were loyal but most concerned. Nothing like the trash talk you normally hear wearing orange. Many told me all about their team AND tried to about mine. You gotta love ‘em.

I’ve been to a dozen Tiger Stadium games, about half at 2:30 and the other half at night. Atmosphere was nothing like either. I was called “Tiger Bait” once. Once. Fans wanted the team to excite them and they didn’t.

Big Orange Nation showed out. Even LSU fans mentioned the turnout. The game wasn’t all that close actually. They’ll play “if, and or buts” but facts are Tennessee was, is, & will be the better team, morning day or night.

The exits started BEFORE the 3rd Qtr ended. Now I’ve seen Neyland empty too but not 3 years from winning a NC? EdO did a good screw job on them.

For a “sellout” there were a huge group of empty seats all along the stadium. I’d say maybe 85k total attended. This tells me ADs are selling their unsold season tickets to StubHubs, etc at reduced prices. Easily 15k, maybe more, wore orange.

Great trip. Road games are fun, especially if the Vols win.

You’ll never forget that trip, you witnessed a greatness from our Vols that we haven’t seen in years.

Yeah, this was a better trip than 2000.

I did jokingly tell a LSU fan who said “maybe y’all can beat Alabama now” sarcastically “ y’all are the SOBs that brought him here”.

My son had a great time, probably too great of time. They were in New Orleans Thurs nt. They drove to Baton Rouge Fri nt and overslept til 9am. They called Uber and made it to game. They were out til 4am and he said LSU fans were awesome and bought them drinks all night. They should be home by 9:30 and then he has a three hour trip to Knoxville with 9am class. I told him he could go to game but he better not miss one class!!! 😝

It’s a balance. As a student, I went to Athens and South Carolina rd games. So I’m happy for him and his buddies.

LSU fans were very welcoming to my wife and me. Literally ever LSU fan we chatted with commented on how many Tennessee fans were there.

The consensus prior to the game was they felt their defense would shut us down. After the game all I heard is they didn’t realize how good we actually were. I tried to warn them all our offense was a machine. It was an awesome experience.

The best attempt at an insult I heard was walking across campus after the game. A guy probably in his mid 20’s hand in hand with his wife/girlfriend and his/her parents said aloud to them but for me to hear, “what’s a volunteer anyway? What are they going to do, Volunteer to bend over and take it in the ass?”

I responded while hand in hand with my 5 yr old son, “No, I believe that’s what y’all just did for 3 hours.”

I’m thinking about South Carolina game , maybe Athens

Man, I've been to Athens a million times, grew up an hour or so from there. If you haven't been, be prepared for these jackwagons to come up from behind you and bark in your ear, LOUD. It's the most obnoxious s**t ever. I would say go to Columbia if you haven't been. Good town, they actually have a good atmosphere in their stadium on game day and we're going to truck them again.

I think my all time favorite “what’s a volunteer anyway” response came when an A&M student asked that question in 2016. The Vol who responded said “the reason you don’t go to Mexico A&M”

Apparently that guy hadn't had enough after four quarters and wanted some more of that beat down. Well done!

I had a blast down there! Beautiful campus and tiger exhibit was awsome! LSU fans were great. Had a few students behind me that talked crap 10 min before the game but once it started I never heard another word from them. Vol fans were everywhere and the stadium over in the 4th quarter. Great weekend and food at Draco’s was excellent. Great trip

It may have been my seats and probably because it was an early game, but the environment didn't feel all that loud or intimidating. Still a great stadium and a great time. Probably different at night, but I've seen better from Neyland. Also got lost trying to find my seats. Missed the first 10 points of the game but was catching bits and pieces on the concession tv's as I walked by. I was several bloody mary's/beers/mimosa deep at that point.

Had one guy ask me how many hours I had volunteered this year lol. Only "tiger bait" I got was after the game walking back through campus. Another LSU fan heard it and said "idk man, they just kicked our asses".

It was an absolutely beautiful campus, maybe the nicest I’ve ever seen. It’s up there with UGA in beauty but very different in their aesthetics. But my gosh the area right around campus is the ghetto. It makes the Fort look like a gated community. I insisted my maps app had me going to the wrong place once I got off I-10.

It was such a great time. We were in the east upper deck with all of the Vol faithful up there. We were loud and proud! LSU fans didn’t talk smack at all to me, which I was surprised at. Parking was a breeze across from Walk-On’s. Went to the UT alumni tailgate and had a blast hearing from Danny White/Donde Plowman. Game was about as great as it could be. Tiger Stadium was only loud once (when they got the ball down 20-7). Otherwise, felt like it was a bowl game. Glad to see the Vols play so well on the road. GBO!

Good point. Glad he did. We paid for his ticket and lodging -food. I had his car oil changed Sat after the game and spent an hr washing his car today. He just left our house 30 min ago so he should be in Knox by 2:30 Est.

I have lived in Baton Rouge since '83. I saw Vols win there (late 80s?) when Carl Pickens housed KOff for us. I was at the 2000-ish game when we had A.J. Suggs and lost in OT. I was at the 2010 Dooley loss. To my shame, I did not go to the 2005 Katrina game that we won.

I am in my late 60s and I don't like crowds, and would rather watch on TV. But I said, shame on me if I don't get over there in orange and support them. Our church parking at UPC on Dalrymple Drive was mostly Vol fans! I was tickled to get to chat with those folks, ask them where from, and hear "correct" accents once again. It was a grand day. 😁🤗🧡

Agreed. Great place and fans pretty friendly, unlike the Fla ones. SC I would attend again, but never again at Fla.
