After seeing the battle between Durant and Boggan in their classic triple OT game, and with Greg Oden's offense now really coming along, it got me thinking that we have faced these three players, plus some other really good/great players this year - with some other really good/great players still to come on the schedule.

There is quite a list of names of players that we've already faced and have yet to face. I could've left someone out, but here are some of those players : Tyler Hansbrough (UNC), Brandon Wright (UNC), Mario Boggan (Okie St.), JamesOn Curry (Okie St.), Kevin Durant (Texas), Greg Oden (Ohio St.), Jamont Gordon (Miss. St.), Randolph "Just the Fax" Morris (ky), Joakim Noah (Fla.), Al Horford (Fla.), Glen Davis (LSU), Ronald Steele ('Bama), and Jermareo Davidson ('Bama).

Who do you think is the best opposing player that the Vols basketball team has faced or will face this year?

Here's my opinion: By year's end the answer may very well be Oden, because his offense seems to be improving even while playing mostly with his off-hand, but so far I have been the most impressed with Durant from Texas.

I would say Durant and Oden are a toss-up. They are two different types of players, so it is hard to compare them.

I think it will end up being Oden, but from what I've seen so far, I agree with you, it's Durant.

Kevin Durant, and it isn't even close. He would be averaging 17 or more a night in the NBA. He is the best freshman in college basketball since at least Carmelo Anthony.

Horford. ha what a joke. I should expect that from a Gator, but come on Law, I hope that was sarcasm.

Durant, by far.

that's a pretty impressive list...when you look at it that kind of context.......wow.

i'd say Durant and Oden are it right now. and will likely end up that way by season's end.

Horford is probably 3rd or 4th on the list behind Durant, Oden, and Boggan. Steele is the man, and Curry shouldn't really be listed, IMO.

Love him on the Cavs....

Actually he is the only reason I follow pro basketball. I had been a Cavs fan, but payed little attention to them before Lebron.

He will not be the first drafted. A healthy Oden is worth two Durants. Durant is the best player on a decent team and gets 20 shots, a lot of them horrible, every night. Brandon Wright could score 20+ per night with as many touches.

In five years, you'll be able to look back and laugh at how asinine your post is.

Which part is asinine? I don't like Oden and do like Durant, but 180 pound 6'9" SF/PF types do not fare well in the modern NBA. 7'1" 300 lb athletic types can and do dominate in the NBA. Oden will be first chosen and will win more than Durant (given relatively equal supporting casts), period.

There is not one team in the NBA that would choose Durant over Oden. In fact, I'm willing to make a substantial wager with you that Oden will be the first drafted, regardless of anything Durant might do between now and the draft.

I'm quite certain the Rockets have a much larger need for Kevin Durant than they do Greg Oden. Why would I care who the #1 pick is? Michael Olowokandi was a first pick. How did that turn out? Kwame Brown? I did not realize that Durant was barred from gaining weight. I remember Kevin Garnett being pretty thin when he hit the league. He turned out to be a decent player. Durant will win multiple scoring titles and make the All Star game for a decade straight.

Really goin out on a limb there considering many have said he will be the number 1 pick since he was a sophomore in high school/

I'd say the #1 pick speaks to who the real professionals believe gives them the best chance of winning long term.

Do you really think the Blazers thought Sam Bowie gave them a better chance to win long term? NBA GMs err on the side of taking big guys because it is easier to deflect criticism if you miss on a seven footer. It is purely an example of CYA.

If Kevin Garnett were 6'9", he'd be a middlin' player in the NBA, but he ain't he's 7'1" with absurdly long arms. If durant grows to 7'1", he can be dominant, otherwise he's going to grow up to shoot 40% in the NBA, just like CAnthony. Very few take home the big team prizes by having their stars shoot at the Mendoza line. I'd say AI is a pretty good example, but he tends to offset his inability to bury it because he's a defensive force - Durant ain't.

You implied that Durant is the best player and everyone else is swinging for a distant second. That's more asinine than anything I've considered saying.

Kevin Garnett is not 7'1", he's 6'11" at best.

Anthony's FG% season by season:

03-04: 42.6%
04-05: 43.1%
05-06: 48.1%
06-07: 49.8%
