Yes. This Tennessee team has a talent deficit perhaps like any other in the modern era. Still this team is poorly coached by any measure. Last year Lane Kiffin and staff had Tennessee playing good, clean football at times. You can stink and be well coached just like you can stink and be awful to watch. This year, the Vols are nearly impossible to watch with constant non-sense that continues to creep in week after week. These errors with the improper # of guys on the field just shouldn't be happening at this point. And this is not meant as an attack on Dooley but when you can't get this sort of thing corrected more than halfway through the season, how am I supposed to have hope going forward? Before LSU, this issue was amusing. Then it cost us that game and now it's beyond embarrassing. I know this team stinks in terms of talent. We all know that. But these coaches are being paid handsomely. And for the job they've done on the field to this point, they're just not earning the money. And if you'll remember, all off-season I said I had zero expectations for this team win/loss wise. My measure of judgement was going to be the eyeball test. Which is a great place to start. You tell me, is UT well coached? Is this season giving you hope for the future like last year did? I'm sorry but to this point when I think about the immediate future of UT football, I'm wincing in anticipation. And I hope Dooley gets it done but come on.

Basilio has it wrong just like everything else. We are competing in the first half with significantly less talent than Kiffin had last year.

my take is that they are running out of gas(getting tired) in the second half of games due to shortage in manpower and that just helps spotlight the mistakes.

Up until the Alabama game Tennessee was one of the least penalized teams in the NCAA. For a young team that's not bad. Impatience on everyone's part, give it some time.
Does this team look like last year's squad? No
Who expected Matt Simms to come in and light it up?
DE's playing tackle
Some people were expecting a little too much this year.
You can empty a bottle of wax on a turd and shine the hell out of it, but in the end, it's still a turd.

a completely inexperienced OL.
Horrible depth.

These are HUGE problems that the best coach in college football wouldn't be able to overcome.

last year our penalty numbers were held up as proof that UT was well-coached and disciplined. Wonder why the same measure isn't used now

and I have to say the title made me laugh

I never have liked cowards that kick a dog when it's down.
I can stomach the jerks that get paid to do it.

Fans are another matter.

A lot of fans talk about Dooley making excuses.

I don't hear it. An obscure quote from his WWII luncheon speech:
"Hey, it's what we've got to do because we're obviously not good enough coaches to do it the other way. That's a fact."

This season could make or break Dooley and staff. Make or break, I support him.

Well they weren't getting blown out like this year and they hadn't lost 5 games before November.

They also hadn't played 4 teams that had been ranked in the top 10 with the youngest OL in TN history and no Eric Berry, no Rogan, No Big Dan(noDT's for that matter), and with a new qb.

He asked what the difference was and why all the knee jerk reactions, i answered. Thanks for the update but i already know that.

Very True. The team has been playing all the good teams close up until the second half. Then the depth of a team like LSU and Bama come into effect. Simply put, the deeper teams have just plain wore us out in the 2nd half. As for the Kiffin comments, he had upper classmen with experience and a weaker schedule. Dooley's got freshmen and one of the toughest schedules in the nation. Open your eyes and you'll see there has been growth on this team, but no matter what, you can't just add depth and at this point, that's what we're lacking.
