maybe...and hear me out on this...just MAYBE Ainge was better than any of us gave him credit for?

Isnt this the same OL that only gave up 4 sacks last year? One would think that a season later, they would be AT LEAST as good, if not better than last year.

Isnt this the same team that had a 1000 yard receiver?

I just wonder what could have been this year if UT had had a serviceable QB.

Maybe Ainge made up for a lot of this teams shortcomings with his quick release and accurate (albeit short) passes?

1. Not everyone was critical of Ainge.
2. You are seeing the difference in Cut and Clawson.

I think Cut knew our line couldn't hold a block long and designed the offense to get rid of the ball fast. Hence the lack of a deep vertical attack. 3rd and 9 you say? Lets run a 4 yard out route. Probably the single most frustrating thing for me was that.

I think if Ainge had 4 years with Cutcliffe then I think he would've been better. Think about how much better Casey Clausen could've been under Cutcliffe

I dont think you are uncovering anything no one didnt really know.
But who wants to come on here and say they couldnt wait to see Crompton play?

No excuse for our atrocious run blocking this year....but a LOT of the sacks given up fall squarely on the QB's not being able to read the defense and react, and our WR's cant get open. I mean, we dont have one WR on the roster that strikes "fear" into our opponent....and they know our QB's cant get em the ball deep even if they do get behind the safeties (Stephens has at least hit a couple long bombs). Easy to load up on the run and make us the 114th ranked offense in the country with that perfect storm of circumstances.

I've always thought Ainge was great....no one listened.

Let's not get carried away. Ainge had some serious limitations. Cut just identified them and developed an offense around Ainge that would work. Credit Cut there.

Ainge never was the same after that ND game when he got hurt. He didn't make many mistakes, but apparently the UT coaching staff didn't have enough confidence in him to let him throw more than a 10 - yard screen , a 15-yard out pattern, or the rare 15 yard over-the-middle pass (aka, "the deep ball").

With AInge, we win quite a few more games this year than we have so far, and Fulmer's job is not in jeopardy.
I'm not sure about your gender or whether your username means what I think it does, but just in case, I'm a Vol.

I thought Ainge was fantastic aside from the SEC Championship where he single handedly imploded our chances of winning.

You may be trying to read too much into my username. It's just my initials for Vols. I'm not sure I even know what you would be trying to read into it unless it's related to BS in someway. (I get that a lot when I sign my initials at work.)

I dont know of a delicate way to explain it......but it looks like "BJs".....commonly know as a blow job. Get it now?

I got a PM explaining it. I guess it's a sign that I'm getting too old. 10 to 20 years ago, I would have picked up on that. #1) No one in their right mind would want that from me, and #2) No way in he!! I would ever cross over to the other side like that. (I am a male.) I might need to change my username, huh. :fool:

OK Ainge was by no means "great". However he was twice the QB Crompton or Stephens have ever thought of being.
