Unbelievable run. This team is incredible! Pitching, hitting, defensively, smart!

What the hell was going on with the bat gate incident yesterday in top of the first. I have my on theories but I’ll wait for everyone to chime in.

Go Vols and get game 2!

As I understand... All bats for both sides are inspected by the umpires, for both teams pregame; and a sticker is then applied to each individual bat. After the first batter hit a homerun then the Vandy coach asked Homeplate Umpire to check the bat for the certification sticker. There was not a sticker on that bat, and according to league rules, the batter is automatically called out.
I am grateful that happened, because it inspired the vols to another win. According to Coach Toney, he had all the bats in the dugout checked and found two more bats were found where the stickers were missing. No harm no foul.

There was a sticker on it. It was just one from our previous game with Western Carolina.

The bats were checked Thursday by team administrators

Ding ding we have a winner. The bats are inspected by the umpires prior to the game. Why would you need to reinspect them after a home run? If the ump didn’t put a new sticker on it then that’s his problem not UTs. Vandy coach knew that a new sticker wasn’t on it so he waited. That’s how the catcher knew when he picked it up and held it! Why was the Wednesday sticker not changed? Umps failed so why punish the player?
Vandy and their umps can GTFO!

The batter said he remembered seeing the sticker fall off earlier, but didn’t think anything of it

Hey y’all! Haven't visited in awhile. Just wanted to say that sticker thing last night was utter BS. Glad y’all put the business on them after that anyway. Unbelievable start to your season! Big congrats! I know y’all are enjoying the hell out of it, as you should! Hope y’all are all doing great, and I’m looking forward to talking a little ball with ya as the season progresses. I’m just now starting to watch a little closer now that Bball is almost over. Anyway, hell of team this year, and congrats again on the incredible start!

Your facts are wrong.

Seems to me inferior glue was used on the Vandy stickers,(sticker fell off). The logo of the opposing team is put on the bat.My question is,who is responsible for putting the stickers on and further, who is responsible for checking the legality of the bat to begin with! It still haunts me that Corbin was the one who instigated the UMP checking it and the catcher asked the ump to check it.Seems they knew something. Vandy grasping at straws !! or stickers !!

Why would the inspectors inspect the bats the DAY before the game, rather than wait til a COUPLE OF HOURS before the game? That would 1) make their stickers less likely to come off in batting practice in the interim, and 2) make it less likely that anyone could tamper with the bat in the interim. This is a really screwed up inspection/verification system. It appears to be designed by Rube Goldberg.

So p.o.'d! With all the channels and all the streaming services I've got, there wasn't a single channel carrying the Vols last game with Vandy.
