I'm looking forward to coming down to Knoxville this weekend for the SC game. It's been awhile since I've been on campus (4 years). Any suggestions for good bars to visit on the Strip before/after the game? Also, what are the local laws regarding open alcohol containers? Can I walk around with an open beer?

Great place to watch some early games is Buffalo Wild Wings.. go early though because it will be packed.. its across from charlie peps and the shell.. if you are looking to go drink somewhere charlie peps is good as well as places like chilis, cool beans,etc..

On gameday there really aren't any open container laws. I just graduated and in my four years never saw someone get in trouble for it. I would suggest putting whatever you are drinking in a cup though.
As far as bars on the strip, they closed O'Charley's so your gameday haven of a multitude of tv's will have to be somewhere else. Bar Knoxville isn't too bad, they also have the big A$$ beers there. Charlie Peppers isn't too bad(I recommend the Rooster Cogburn sandwich), and Buffalo Wild Wings is also on the strip. Other than that I can't really think of a place that is going to have alot of tv's. Maybe Chili's, but I've never been in there on a game day so I really couldn't tell ya. Hope your trip is a good one!

On gameday you shouldn't have a problem with a beer. Just put it into a cup and your good to go.

Keep the drinks in a Solo cup or at least a can with a coozie. I always make sure to avoid glass bottles and I have never had a problem. Although, I have seen people get in trouble but they were always doing something stupid to get the attention of the athorities in the first place. Buffalo Wild Wings is good to watch the games but just too commercial for me. I always tailgate where there are TVs but I am sure if you are wearing orange you can make friends with just about any tailgate party you wish.

I loved O'Charleys on game day, but since its closed I would say Buffalo WW or Charlie Peppers. The night before and of the best place to go is Cotton Eyed Joes out west.

Then again, if we lose again to SC...any place would be a great place to go drinking.

Cool Beans by far has the most TVs on the strip. BWW will be packed and slow.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm looking forward to it.

Think I'll pass on Cotton-Eyed Joe... I cut my mullet off 20 years ago. Don't get me wrong, I like country music, just not the kind of country music you dance to.

Cool Beans sounds like a coffee shop but it sounds like they sell beer there.

Of course, I may just wander around from tailgate to tailgate with a Solo cup.

Cool beans has nothing to do with coffee, I guarantee it.

I couldn't believe my eyes at the Ga game this year. We headed down early to the Vol Walk and were contemplating how many beers we should carry. (Im from Memphis) We carried two a piece but when I got down to the Vol Walk I saw guys walking around with twelve packs like it was no big deal. Wish I would have known that before I left with my meisly (sp) two!
