Any suggestions for a fun bar in Athens for Friday before the TN/GA game? We're a group of guys in our early 30s.

Ask around for the best live music bar.

There is one little place that is the very best in Athens.

Alzheimers sucks, let me tell you.

Only music venues I can think of are the 40 Watt and Georgia Theater although I am sure there are dozens more.

Classic City Saloon used to be a fun place if its still there. Firehouse and Flannigans were good places too. This was about 5 years ago. I am not sure if all of those are still open or not.

There are a ridiculous amount of bars down there, Whiskey Dicks always has good looking women around. Athens imo is one of the best college towns.

Is it coincidence that this thread is directly underneath the one about Colquitt's return tomorrow?

You will have no problem finding a great bar in Athens. When I was there in '04 a student told me that in a few blocks that make up their downtown there are roughly 50 bars. I think I tried to get a beer at each of them.

Agree about Whiskey dicks---excellent choice of hot stuff there. Plus, good drinks.

If you like great beer, go to Trapeze. Best beer bar in the South (at least that I know of). It's a little bit older crowd there -- more your age instead of college kids -- so you won't want to spend all night there, but definitely a good place to stop in for a couple of exotic beers.

The Blind Pig is another pretty cool hangout. The fried pickles are good. There was one more bar I think its called Boars Head or something like that. It had a good atmosphere. They used to have a live band there too.
