Watch the interview. Listening to Barnes, you'd have thought we lost the game. He was very upset that we did lose the second half.

Barnes is 100% correct! The 2nd half was ho-hum at best! If they were playing a team that can score in a flurry... that game could've been cut to single digits in a snap. If these guys want to be LEGIT... they HAVE to keep the intensity for 40 mins. Period. BURY teams!!!

The first half the Vols were more focused and engaged defensively, unquestionably. When you allow a team to score 50-plus points (i.e. 2nd half) you didn't play good defense. They had a big lead and just played poorly defensively and got sloppy and careless with the ball. If you play a half like we did against a Duke or Virginia or a handful of other teams, chances are you will be going home with a big L.

I thought the team let off the gas big time and didn't play well down the stretch. They didn't match up with shooters standing out beyond the 3 point line for several seconds alone. And they allowed Arkansas to get multiple 2nd, 3rd and possibly 4th looks.

Yeah. I think he knows he's in a battle now with the Hype and Complacency that can set it when a team thinks they've arrived. I'd expect some hard coaching this week before Saturday.

Also, another observation about a possible kink in the armor. Bone bringing the ball downcourt I'm comfortable with. He is phenomenal. Last night, Turner was very loose with the ball, even with moderate pressure. Turner is very good in many areas, but his ball-handling will really be exploited should we face a team that applies maximum full-court pressure.

I agree!!! I'd rather have Bowden with the ball. Turner was getting a little too cute last night. I hope the other teammates snaps his ass outta that quickly!

Love Coach Barnes! Love that he says ā€œyou gotta respect the game, the opponentā€ and be committed for 40 minutes. Love that he says ā€œthis time of year you have to keep building and getting better, you can’t let up, I don’t care what the ranking is!ā€ This man is a treasure. To have him at Tennessee is very fortunate.

I think Barnes talked about that and was the reason he left him in with 2 fouls. Did say he could play himself into being one of the best in the country at the same time admitting his current flaws.

Jebus, saw that title and thought the Vols actually lost. I missed the game last night due to being at the Preds and last I heard Vols were up by 15, thought they somehow choked.

OP should have put the word LOSS in quotation marks for folks who missed the game or didn't yet get the results.

He's just displaying the attitude of a champion. He's not willing to settle for anything less than what he knows his team is capable of. It's the reason he is such a great coach.

Just thought it would get more people to watch the video than Barnes Talks About Arkansas. Ain't that how our media does it?

I was in shock by the bad passing and missed opportunities in the 2nd half. Spoiled I guess because of the intensity, crisp passing and speed of the previous game with Florida. Anyway the game outcome was never in doubt it was basically over in the first 10. Great team playing 10 players with little or no drop off in performance. I'd hate to be an opposing coach scheming up a game plan against the Vols.
