Barnes’ contact officially extended

It doesn't mention any specific pay increase, so maybe the premature freak-out by certain people is now a little unwarranted. I'll be interested to see the details whenever those are announced.

From VQ…

It now runs through 2026.

2020-2021 -- 4.7 million
2021-22 -- 4.955
2022-2023 -- 5.205
2023-2024 -- 5.455
2024-2025 -- 5.555
2025-2026 -- 5.655

If UT fires Barnes before April 30, 2024 they owe him 100% or the remaining amount on the deal. After that date it's 50%.

This seems more reasonable than what was previously reported. The modest pay increases (less than 2%) in 25 and 26 seem reasonable given the amount of leverage that Barnes had this offseason.

Indeed. With the projected marked increases in inflation for the next few years, Barnes will likely see his income decrease in real terms.

Assuming his bonus structure remains the same . $200k for making NCAA tournament and $100k for a decent APR - he should be hitting close to $6m in total compensation those last years .

Good. Maybe the people who freaking out on Barnes will realize we ain't getting rid of him for a minimum of 3 more seasons. Rejoice!
