Bandwagon Fans

Tell ya what kills me....

I have a friend that is a Florida fan....the only reason he is a Florida fan is to piss off all the TN fans around him.

Every Saturday, like clockwork, he updates his Facebook status....but it's never "Go Gators!".....it's always "Go Gamecocks, or "Blue Raiders" or whoever we are playing....

I just threw up a little thinking about it.

Gotta take control of your life:p

I come from a UGA family. But I realized that just because your daddy likes Georgia doesn't mean you will like them. They like to put you in those cute little baby clothes with red and black, but you can't do much when you are a baby. I have recently embraced the Vols as my own team and it feels right. Can't call me bandwagon, that's for sure. Not everything is so black and white, so don't blame a fan for switching teams. It's when you supported them that matters, good and bad times.

Who gives a rip if you switch pro team allegiances? Myself I don't really care about the NFL except following former Vols and keeping track for Fantasy Football purposes. It's not like college teams where you cheer for them usually because you went to school there. I'm a UT student, raised by UT alums so needless to say I've been a VFL since I was born :)

PS I like the Braves because it's the closest MLB team to Knoxville and I grew up watching them with my dad and going down to Turner Field to watch em play

I've known some people like that. They say things like "I don't like anybody I just hate Tennessee!!" And they live in Tennessee. People annoy me. Just wanting attention.

That's interesting.

I have the same test for Kerwin Bell I administer to Gator fans.

To a man, all the ones that pass are fun, stellar human beings; this includes lawgator, 99, and a number of my high school classmates.

Its the Backstreet lookalike Jersey Shore wannabes that have rotted that fanbase in the last fifteen years.

I have a co-worker who is a Florida "fan" and he has no idea who Errict Rhett is. At least he didn't two years ago when we were watching the Fla/Ala SECchamp game with a bunch of guys from work.

Why do people always tell how long they've been a fan as a responses to being called a bandwagon fan.... It's not when it's why... I can say I've been a celtic fan since 1960.... But the back story is they won 9 of 10 in the 60s

Didnt mean to hit like.Anyhow I became a cowboys fan when I was 10 how is that a bandwagon fan.Braves is the most close to where I live.Grizzles is states team.Titans is states team.Red sox Now I did start liking cause they came back down 3-0 in playoffs to beat yankees. If you like a team even when they stink, and you dont change thats not a bandwagon fan

I agree about the "why" part. That's a thing I love about this board, hearing people explain why they love UT sports. I was sharing my "why" stories last night, having grown up in Knoxville and having so many great experiences. That''s what makes it so great.

I can handle being called a bandwagon fan as far as NFL, doesn't bother me a bit, it's true. Have a great weekend, guys!

The other part of this that bugs me is I have a lot of people around me tha claim to be diehard TN fans, but they call me on gameday to ask when the game comes on. If you are a "diehard" fan then how the he$$ do you not know the game time on game day. Six days before I know time, channel, pre game, Volwalk and anything else associated with the game. Call yourself a casual watcher. I and all of you guys are diehard fans. I have seen others who post Friday on FB asking if Bama or FL play this weekend then on Monday they are jawing on how much "we" won by. Those are the people I would love to push off a cliff.

I know everybody has them when they are good, but the number of Alabama bandwagon fans is unbelieveable. Ten years ago I knew 1 Bama fan and now everybody is a fan and talking trash. I always respond with the "Kitchens Test". That is do you remember who Freddie Kitchens is because if you were a Bama fan at that time then you are a true Bama fan. A lot of people have said they had no idea who he was which says bandwagon to me. For all of us who wear our orange at this times proves we are true fans. Ask a Gator fan when they got into it. Assuming age then most likely you hear early 90's. I haven't met one that was a fan before. I am sure we had them 10-15 years ago, but it just makes you sick when they start dissing your team.

I always use Kitchens as well! Cool man, thought i was the only one. It's funny how many Bammers don't or can't remember him.

Nothing burns me up more than someone who roots for one team in football and another in basketball. There are exceptions, i.e. you root for your alma mater who didn't have an FBS football team. But for the most part you can tell who has picked a team who is good or has a good tradition in football and then roots for a totally different school with a strong basketball tradition. Like the joker here who roots for UT football and Kansas basketball. Sorry, but I don't consider people like that a Vol fan.

I've never understood how you can put on the colors of a school, sing the right songs, cheer the cheers for a football team, then turn around and trash talk the same school in basketball. I mean how do you cheer to Rocky Top in football and not basketball? And sadly there's way too many Vol fans that still don't embrace the basketball team. Yeah I know the program isn't strong in tradition but come on.

I have a friend who is all Alabama....has the flag in his yard.....went to the game dressed in all Alabama clothes.....says roll tide on Facebook all the time.....I rag on him all the time and tell him I don't remember him ever mentioning Alabama back in high school....he never responds bc he knows it's true.

i dont understand why people get upset because bandwagon fans choose to like a product when it's winning? If you went to school at UT then that's a different story but for those that didnt they dont owe UT anything..however UT sure wants their money. Just saying, maybe its better to exert your energy in a more productive way like P90X

If you think about it, bandwagon fans ARE the reason for change. If everyone followed and went to the games out of loyalty, coaches would never be fired. There would be no reason to change.

It is still annoying to see someone throwing roll tide in your face when they have been a fan for 3 years and have never been to Alabama.

I am not a general fan of NFL so If I watch an NFL game, I root for the one with the most Vols on the roster.
