seems to me it's a win-win. Win, we beat Bama. Win out and we win a bunch of games.

Lose, Fulmer goes away.

As I said in the opener, I think the odds of us beating them are very high.

I'm tired of the "Phil's best when his back is against the wall" absurdity, but it's true to a limited degree. Unfortunately, most of this magical ability happens because our frontloaded schedule allows for recovery against the conference patsies and OOC laughers. This game is against a good football team.

Alabama is good, but not the horse they're being painted to be. They took a serious blow on D last night and their O still has JPW at the helm. They are physical and great in the trenches, but they just finished struggling with two sorry football teams.

It's a classic style game for Phil to win. I don't think he can, but I wouldn't be surprised. I hope like hell we beat Alabama, but, in the event that we do, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that Phil has outlived his ability to coach a SEC winner.

this is all fair.

but, beating a #2 nick saban coached Alabama team would be a nice feather in the cap for this season.

let's face it, win this game on Saturday night, on national tv, and it basically makes the season.

hell i remember what it was like to believe that a 1-10 season was ok as long as the 1 was against Bama. And i'm not the only one.

but, this is one of those games that if you really want change.......you're stuck, cause if he wins it, 7-5 assured and 8-4 becomes a real possibilty, extension and raise and all.

but can you root for us, your team, to lose against their longest bitter rival?

i can't.

Go VOls. Beat the hell out of Bama.

Phil needs to approach this as our bowl game......on second thought maybe that isn't such a good idea.

I'm rooting hard for us to win. I won't like having more Phil, if that's the result, but I'm all for killing UA and Saban.

The 7-5 assured part I don't buy however. This team has an awful streak as big as China.

Let me preface this post by telling you to read the excellent "Why I Hate Bama' post." Living in 'Bama is hell in the first place... Tide this, Tide that, every piece of clothing is available in houndstooth.

I would gladly sign CPF to a lifetime contract if it was guaranteed he could beat UA every single year.

For Cartervol, myself, and every other Volnation member in AL, this game is the season.

Fulmer will be gone at years end regardless of what happens Saturday. You have to pull for your team...no matter what!!!!
