Gamecocks up by 10 with the ball and a first down in the Miss St redzone with just over a minute to play. Rather than form a victory formation and taking a knee, Spurrier decides to run another play and score a touchdown. That extended the game by 8-10 plays when you count the PAT and kickoff. I wonder what he'd have said if his team suffered an injury during that time. There was a couple good collisions after the Bulldogs got the ball. What a jerk Spurrier is. Oh well, at least the Cocks covered the spread. The boosters are happy, I'm sure.

Injuries are part of the game. It's up to the defense to keep the score being run up. In this system (BCS) you never know when those style points will really matter.

+1. In this day and age you have to make it look good. I know we just talked about this but look at what those close wins almost cost FL last year. There's nothing wrong with SC running the ball close to the end of the game. If anything, that HELPS MSU. There's a much better chance of a fumble running the ball, correct? Victory formation = game over.

Putting bad coaching and Spurrier in the same sentence just doesn't jive.

I wish I had a coach that didn't care what the score was or how much time was left when were on offense, realizing the objective of the game is to score points on offense.

It's kinda hard for your team to have the killer instinct if your coach doesn't.

Spurrier :rock: IMO.

I would have ran plays too. In the least it makes your players feel better about the bigger margin of victory. That could mean a little more momentum for the following week.

That does seem to make a difference. Spurrier was sending a message to CPF and Tubbs, that HE WILL NEVER BE CROOMED!

True. Injuries are part of the game. That's why I have a problem with what he did. Why extend the number of plays and possible injuries when you don't have to, especially when you have to play again on Thursday night? It was a hard fought, hard hitting game. Take a knee and go to the house.

Victory formation is not in his playbook, or Urben Meyer's for that matter.

What I meant was he never played aggressive!!!! I realized after I hit submit how it looked....:eek:k: I love Fulmer and I hate to see him leave, because I'm sure he bloods Orange just like we all do....But the game has past him by and it's time to go... I just don't want him to be embarressed by the way they may choose to let him go..

as much as I bleed orange I know phil fulmer bleeds it more, with that said, we would all cheer if spurrier was the vols coach, he has the swagger that translates to players. i had a friend years ago, knowing I LOVE BOB KNIGHT, tell me, knowing I hated spurrier, that the ole ball coach was Knight in a football visor. I took offense, but in retrospect I see the similarities. I see a lot of spurrier and knight in leavitt at USF. go Vols

its not bad coaching by spurrier, that's spurriers way, and i must say i love it. i wish we had him. we would stomp a mud hole in their arse, and stomp it dry

Along the continuum of Running Up The Score, calling a running play with a minute to play isn't that awful. Spurrier just handed the ball off once instead of taking a knee. Big deal. I'd like to think that the coach is operating in a vacuum in which he doesn't know the spread, but hey -- if the difference between boosters' happiness and frustration is one running play, then well, that's not really that horrific a transgression.

You can't play or coach scared. Injuries are a part of the game.

Gee, I guess we ran out of room when we hit the goal line after running the ball on every play of the final drive. As for extending the game, heck, Croom called a timeout down 17 with seconds left in the game.

Here's to hoping you absolutely hate Spurrier's guts around 10:00 Thursday night. :good!:
