Who is next?

Guess we end up with somebody we never heard of

God, it sucks being a UT fan some times. We can't have nice things

Administration setting it back another decade and the fans will fill the stands anyway. 4 or 5 years on another Butch or worse hire, then another 5 years for someone to clean up the mess. I'll be in my 50's before Tennessee is worth a crap again, if i make it that long.

They should fire that AD and Chancellor and save us more embarrassment..

We can either keep getting turned down by good coaches, settle for another Butch, or hire Kiffin and go win games. Time to suck up the pride and do it.

At this point, I would guess Leach, Kiffin, Tee or Norvell. It really needs to get done soon. Surely someone worth a darn would like to take millions of dollars to come here.

42 Million, 6 years.... that's 7 million / year. Currie went down there with orders to drown Gundy in cash! He got down there and went cheap. Like always. UT is brain-dead from the top down.

It was going to take a GOB of money to get him, and we tried to squeeze him. I have no hope of getting anyone but a coordinator with stars in his eyes.

Come on, SEC, give the Vols a good horse laugh. We are truly that stupid. Unbelievable.

Kevin Steele is a good choice. Currie will find a way to screw this one up too. Maybe we can ultimately get the groundskeeper to be our head coach.

Cue the Benny Hill music.

You just know what’s going to happen.

Whatever they eventually get, they’re going to place blame on the fans for the hire.

7 million a year is 2.8 million more a year than he's currently making. It's a good offer. I think they wasted their time with him. He's not leaving Stoolwater.

I felt there wasn’t any mystery to the Gundy offer. Everyone knows he’s not leaving his Alma mater. This is simply softening us up with the appearance that they went big. Now prepare for a less than stellar hire. Likely a MAC coach.

Typical UT administration.

Fans get blamed for everything else around here.

May as well take the blame for the coaching hire too.

What's next is probably 4 to 6 more years of sucking unless we just get extremely lucky. I'd hate to see Kevin Steele ruin his career but if he's willing, let him try.

To turn down a 2.8 million a year raise they must have offered that for him to stay. Can't fault AD on this one.

This was the “we tried to go big offer” and now it is time to settle.
Why in the world do you not talk to Sumlin or Kiffin at this point is beyond me.

See, Carter... you are far too sane for this message board! I think, when a guy is making millions (I'll never be able to fathom this) per year, a couple more million is not as important as home, history and love. BUT, if you make him choke on money, he has to stop and truly think. I believe Gundy thought, that's not that much more, given where we are.... I pass.

Probably need to hit up Brohm Norris and Norvell too.

May as well get them raises as well.

Bring in Steele. He is 59. Maybe Tee will come as OC with the understanding he gets next shot after Steele retires.

Sumlin HC $4.5M

Kiffin OC $1.5M

Steele DC $1.5M

Go get em and put this to bed.
