Well, we got the victory ... but we can't feel very victorious after that game. Only one team came to play tonight, and they weren't wearing orange. We won because of the talent differential -- plain and simple. We clearly got out-hustled and were not mentally prepared.

1. This team's FT shooting is garbage. Ramar Smith was 0-12!!! Good Lord! The old dude in the halftime show showed up everybody by hitting 42 of 50 3's.
2. We got out-rebounded ... again. Not a good sign for when we have to play a team with talented big men.
3. Duke Crews played well while he was in the game, even adding a spark in the second half.
4. It was nice to see C-Lo hit back-to-back 3's, but he's still struggling -- both on offense and defense.
5. I think PV played over their heads. With that said, we still should have won by 35.

My prediction stands. We will not end next week undefeated. This team has yet to even really resemble last year's team (and all we lost was a short white dude with curly hair). Hopefully we'll get it together soon and start clicking. The talent's there, but we're a looooong way from being as good as we need to be. Don't go making any reservations for San Antonio just yet.

Maybe all this off season hype has gone to their HEADS??:whistling:

Talent and athletic wise Dane was not a great player. But, his heart held the team together and helped win some very important games. Not the best player on the floor by any means, but he was a scrappy one. Kind of like Steve Wojehowski from the mid Duke years....

Wojo was a better ball handler though

I think it has. Was talking to my Dad about that earlier and we both think that it has Lofton wanting to crawl under a rock and hide. He's just a country boy from KY not use to all this pressure.

Hey all I know is we got away and we still have less losses than Kentucky.
Just got to be thankful for that because saying that 5 years ago would be something all vol fans would have been proud of. Gotta know your roots before you go knocking our team. Just keep winning Vols. I'll always be here to support ya.

Teams typically play down to their competition. As soon as UT starts playing legitimate teams they will start to take shape...

So they sleep walked through one game. Its November!

Not sounding the alarm here, just sayin' we have a lot of work to do. I'm not sure who the leader is on this team. Jajuan? Lofton? I don't know ...

We'll be fine, but I hate to see us get out-hustled.

Well anytime that a team like Praire View gets a oppurtunity to play a game against a top 10 team they are going to "out hustle" them...

This was the first time Tennessee was outrebounded this year. Which was primarily due to our poor spacing and aggressiveness in the paint. Brian Williams was the only player who really controlled the paint defensively. Wayne has to become more physical on both ends of the court.

crews doesn't really impress me. it just looks like he took a shot to his confidence after pearl said that he was behind williams and chism. And ramar's 3 turnovers in the first two minutes set the game off on a bad foot. One thing this team does really well though is denying the pass. they work their butts off in the passing lanes.

So that's two games in a row Tyler Smith deserved the player of the game - but Bert didn't give it to him! And I wish I had a dollar everytime Bert metioned the new, slick ball used in this stubhub tournament..

I was on the court after the game, Bruce was letting Ramar have it in the middle of the radio show. He told him to be at the gym at 6:30 and he was going to work with him. He mentioned in there little meeting that ramar was screwing around too much this week and he needs to get prepared.
IM pretty sure this kind of game wont happen again.

Last year's team was not that good at this point either. They got embarrassed by Butler and UNC. It's a long season, so there's time.

Being outhustled is not good, but I think these guys have fire in their belly. They probably didn't take PV seriously, which is an immature mistake.

We may have just loafed through this one, but I bet we'd lose if we played a top 25 team tomorrow.

I have been to every game and exhibition. I think we are going to be fine. This is just early season ball. Prairie View A & M was playing out of their minds. Not a lot one can do about that. We stole a lot of games from better teams the last two years the same way.

Our leaders seem to be Juan Smith and Howell. That's just my opinion, and one just based on observation as a spectator.

Funny how Memphis beats a poor team by double digits and the majority here insults them.

Then, Tennessee beats a poor team by double digits and nothing is wrong.

Be consistent.
