Shoot man, that was grunge bluegrass. I loved it...the historically accurate bagpipes, the independant sound and feel......that would SO pump up the crowd over the P.A. at home games!!! That drips moonshine and Scotch/Irish appalachian fightMy ears are bleeding! Pure trash! Give me bluegrass or give me death! And not death metal! Ugh!
I was at an Irish bar in Ft Myers that flew these four Irish chics with authentic Celtic instruments over once a month for Thurs, Fri, Sat nights (Dwyers) and those gals did a ROCKING rendition!!!! ou would have been shocked at how that one filled the dance floor.Well, I guess Rocky Top is just popular with everyone, everywhere. Even with Canadian Barbershop quartets lol...

Even the Korean kids put the "Woooo" in there.lol:
Sorry guys the "Woooo" is here to stay.
I may just be behind the times and this may have been circulated already, but I just stumbled across a kick a** version of RockyTop on Myspace. It's like a punk bluegrass version, kind of reminded me a little of Dropkick Murphys. Anyway it got me pumped up so I thought I would share. It's on this page:

Only because the person who taught it to them (presumably an American expatriate over there teaching English) added in the Woo. Hell, they are probably a kid not much older than myself and may not remember that it wasn't always in there...
When I used to go to the games as a kid with my dad and Uncle I never remembered it being in there. But when I started going as a student at UT it was in there every time and it irritated the hell out of me.
Why are so many people against the Whooo!? It is basically the only time the fans all get on the same page, so to speak. From what I can tell, it freaks out the opposing team's fans when we do it. And yes, I remember when the Whooo wasn't there. So what? Things don't always stay the same. It's a good change. I say the Whooo is here to stay.
:td:
Because musically it completely screws the timing of the song. I've had musicians with no UT connection go, wtf, when the woo happens.
Bump ...This is still the best IMO:

Can't watch that without getting a smile on my face..
