I've been doing research on which away trips I want to attend over the next couple of seasons and seeing what people have to say pretty candidly about their experiences. And in doing this research I came across quite a bit of people referencing their trips to Neyland for away games as fans of opposing teams. But first, here are the trips that I've come to a conclusion to attend soon:
'22 at LSU
'22 at USCe
'23 at BYU

As mentioned above, I came across a lot of people from opposing schools talking about Neyland and their experiences and these are some of the things that were said:
- Tiny, tiny seats that are crammed in like sardines and uncomfortable
- Parking is atrocious
- Old and outdated stadium (can't argue with that to be honest)
- Super loud (compared to Sanford and the swamp on loudness)
- Not a lot of hotel options downtown for opposing fan bases

Just thought this was all interesting and wanted to share what I came across.

Opposing fans should always stay home...they will hate it here. The stadium should be filled only with 102,000+ Vol faithful.

I say to them -- Stay at home if you had such a bad experience-- I'm sure they'd totally love Canderbilt- now there's an updated high school stadium.. LOL ..

As someone who’s been to over 300 UT games including 60 or so road games, I can assure you that visiting fans usually don’t know what they are talking about and whine because they lose more often than not at Neyland

I haven't been to very many other stadiums but..

-Tiny, tiny seats that are crammed in like sardines and uncomfortable. Cramming is not a problem this year, but yes it can be tight.
- Parking is atrocious. What event with this many people does not face less than great parking.
- Old and outdated stadium (can't argue with that to be honest) The bathrooms really suck and it's old but renovations happen regular so outdated seems like a stretch.
- Super loud (compared to Sanford and the swamp on loudness) good.
- Not a lot of hotel options downtown for opposing fan bases. There are at least a dozen hotels in downtown Knoxville.

I think the opponent fans meant to say was, there are not a lot of hotels in downtown that are within their price range. Never had an issue finding a hotel for the right price. This doesn't include the Airbnb's

I'd recommend replacing SCAR with Pitt for next season. Columbia is not the greatest place to visit and the stadium is on the fairgrounds basically in an industrial park. Plus it will come around every couple years.

Pitt is probably the only shot for a Pittsburgh trip and it is a great stadium in a good location. Plus lots of other activities to do in Pittsburgh and awesome food options.

Their PA system is terrible at SC also. I've never had a bad experience at a game there though. The one thing they do great is they reverse all lanes after the game. Never had an easier time getting out of a town after a big event

Not a great stadium and an even worse location for a stadium, but yeah, traffic control is set up to get you away quickly. Plus the locals seem to hit the gates early regardless of the game.

Both are good because you want to minimize your time in Columbia if at all possible.
