Awaka to Arizona

Awaka is like a really good undersized mid-major center. Whenever he goes against a small team he dominates but if the opponent has length and size then he's just ok. He doesn't have the ball skill or shooting range to make a difference on offense. His strength at that point is of course rebounding.

That's what I was referring to.

I also don't think Aidoo leaving was a total shock to people outside the locker room, so I find it hard to believe it was any more surprising to someone inside the locker room. So not sure I fully buy that Awaka would have stayed if he knew Aidoo's decision ahead of time. But that part is irrelevant, now.
People on this board flamed me for days when I suggested Aidoo could possible transfer. I'm not sure why people thought it was such an insane idea.

Yeah, he'd had a foot out the door for two years before actually leaving. His departure should have really caught no one by surprise.
I almost want to go find that thread and let you see how people reacted by simply saying he COULD transfer. Some threat last March about the 2024 class ot something. Goes back to what you were saying about some of our fans being hyper sensitive.

I remember it well.

I will say this though, Barnes made a comment that they were a little surprised he transferred because he had told them he was fine. Barnes is brutally honest about everything, so it was t that cut and dry.

No, I agree, there. I think he had given the staff some assurances, and then he did a 180. I'm just saying that on the whole, he's been a threat to leave for two offseasons straight. The fact that he even had to give them assurances tells me that it was a common belief by the staff that his return wasn't exactly a given. Yet, he assured them he was good and then in fact bolted.

Are you referring to Awaka? I remember Aidoo shopping himself last off season but don’t recall hearing about Awaka looking around? He’s just a junior so he didn’t have 2 prior off seasons to consider leaving?

I tuned in to the last 5 minutes of the Arizona vs West Virgina game. Interested to watch Awaka and he did not play the last of the game or in the Overtime loss. I checked the Box score said he started and finished with 4 fouls; 5 points didn't show minutes. So, I'm not sure why they were not playing him in the final stretch and OT in the loss to WV. I think they are 3 & 4 now.

And I was afraid I’d missed something different his game since he left. 😂😂😂
