Awaka to Arizona

Don’t think that’s a totally fair representation, he was very happy at Tennessee, he didn’t totally jive with Aidoo and he wanted more minutes, had he known Aidoo was going to transfer he would not have left.
That's what I was referring to.

I also don't think Aidoo leaving was a total shock to people outside the locker room, so I find it hard to believe it was any more surprising to someone inside the locker room. So not sure I fully buy that Awaka would have stayed if he knew Aidoo's decision ahead of time. But that part is irrelevant, now.

No offense to Tobe, but I prefer the current post rotation of Okpara, Phillips, and Estrella. If Tobe stays the Vols likely don't have one of those guys. Each one of those guys bring more length and athleticism than Tobe.
Igor more than makes up for Awaka. I don't even give a damn that Okpara 's offense is limited because of his defense. Dubar is a F'ing Stud.

Oh yeah, Lanier

We came out ahead in the deal. We're lucky.

Thanks, Rick

We probably don't have Milicic if Awaka stayed at Tennessee.

I am happy with the trade of Awaka for Milicic.

We could use Tobe's 12.3 rebound average. Our current leading rebounder, Okpara, only averages 5.8.
As a team, the Vols currently rank 220th in Rebounds per Game.

Aidoo told the staff he was coming back which is when you saw Awaka announce his departure, Aidoo then did a 180

Had he stayed we probably don’t even recruit Igor. I’m good with how things turned out.
We upgraded from both Awaka and Aidoo. Outside of Knecht, I'm not missing any guys we've had move on recently. No offense to them, but things with JJJ, Vescovi, Aidoo and Awaka had gotten stale. This roster is a breath of fresh air for me. We might not do nearly as well as last year, but change has brought a bit of excitement....at least for me.

He had 3 rebounds and no points last night per Duke/AZ ; AM Boxscore.

Did any of you guys raging on To e actually watch the game or just making assumptions from the box score? Lots of possibilities as to why he had an unimpressive outlier game, but season averages tend to tell a much clearer story.

The after game huddle interview with Lanier looked like this team is very close. Maybe the guys that were there 5 years didn't mesh like I had thought. The Vols just seemed like a happy bunch of brothers after the game, even the announcer said this is what College B-Ball is all about.

I love Tobe, he is a rebounding machine and I didn't want him to leave BUT he clearly is undersized (which is why he is so foul prone), lacks a midrange game (so is relegated to trying to score around the rim), and he is not a good FT shooter. All that to say, Igor's ceiling is much higher and he affects the game in ways that Tobe can't on both ends of the floor.

When did a post shooting 74.2% (Tobe’s 23/24 season average) become a bad FT shooter?

3 game season average that included blowouts with Canisius and Old Dominion. Duke would've been the time to shine..instead of disappear.

I wouldn’t trade Milicic for Awaka either, but it’s not a given that it had to be one or the other. We are 2 scholarships under the limit. Awaka had a lot of upside too. Some of his fouling issues was just being over aggressive at times along with some bogus/phantom calls sprinkled in. I remember wishing Aidoo would rack up more fouls—just to prove his assertiveness.

Fair point...I knew he improved last year vs. his freshman year when he shot 46% but my recollection was that he was still inconsistent and when I checked his stats I only looked at career avg (63%). He's not off to a great start this year (54% on 13 attempts) but one would assume he should be able to get back to over 70% like last year.
