Talk about hitting the ground running. Tony Franklin is already getting senior Brandon Cox and that offense transformed.

Auburn quarterback dealing with transition - Sports | The Dothan Eagle

Now, he’s got one of the best spread offensive minds calling the shots.
“It’s been a tough transition for my last game,” Cox said. “It’s definitely been different.”
But it’s not all bad. Cox played in this system while at Hewitt-Trussville High School. And there are some things about this new offense that fit Cox’s skill set – such as the quick passes and more targets running routes.

And, since it is his last game, Cox doesn’t have to worry too much about film study afterward.
“(Franklin) sat me down and talked to me and said since it’s only going to be one game, he’s going to coach me, but if I mess up foot work or things like that, he can’t change it in one game,” Cox said. “So he just said, ‘do whatever you have to do.’

What do you guys think about Tubby experimenting like this in the bowl game? Do you think he is essentially giving up on the bowl game?
What message does this send to the seniors?

Getting a head start on installing the new offense for next year is more important than winning the Chicken Bowl. There's no sense wasting a month of practice on a system that you won't run anymore.

if you're going to make a change, make it. get the players used to the practice now, so when spring training and fall camp open up, it's less of a surprise.

and it's not like Cox was Peyton Manning back there or anything. so what the heck?

do you honestly think the seniors care about a non bcs bowl?

OK, then let me ask this... should we play Crompton and Stephens in the bowl game and get them some snaps? We could use it as a glorified scrimage in the same way Auburn is.

from what it looks like, auburn isn't replacing their starting seniors...i'd be pleased if Fulmer were to try something new with ainge.

It tells them, you were 18th from last in NCAA offense, so we're gonna try something new.

Can't argue with that. They're still playing Brandon Cox, anyway. If they were totally forgetting about this season in preparation for 2008, they'd start the other guy (who seems like he might be a pretty good fit).
