Auburn is overmatched by Nick Saban and Alabama and they have to play Bama, Georgia, and LSU every year just like us. Yes, Auburn has bad years like the 3-9 year but they are also putting good teams on the field. Auburn should be a great case study for Tennessee. The two schools are very similar with regard to resources, etc. Auburn has been through a lot of transition at the coaching position but they have a good coach now (who always seems to be on the hot seat for some reason).

Tennessee should do a case study on Auburn (perhaps Florida and LSU as well) to determine what they are doing that we are not doing as a program. Typically when your company is failing, you also study your competitors for ideas.

It is embarrassing that we cannot even put a competitive team on the field. Sure you are going to have bad years but we have had a bad decade and it is still running. Let this sink in, Tennessee hasn't finished in the AP top ten since 2001. This is embarrassing for one of the SEC's big 6. We need to model ourselves after some of these programs and make the decisions that they are making to propel our program back into a winning program.

Auburn is not close to the resources of UTK. They have done well in football because their circle is small enough that they can adjust quickly and they have not been shy about pushing the envelope. If Vols want a case study, it's Bama. Keep firing clowns until you get the right guy no matter what the cost. Do the same when it comes to recruiting.

This right here, especially the last part

Bet they are glad they kept Gus this year. And all the people calling for his head are currently eating Crow. I wish/hope Pruitt has a turn around like that.

It’s still funny how we handled Auburn last year fairly easily. It’s an even bigger head scratcher that JG was on fire that game. When he does good, we win. I wish there was consistency with him.

Well one thing they haven't done is have anywhere near as many coaching changes as we have had in the last 10 years. They stuck with Gus and it is paying off for now. Having a revolving door on the HC's office is not a good thing.
How many losses does Gus have to Ga State? Asking for a friend.

There is definitely a difference in Auburn's ability to recover from a bad season and TN's. They rebound much quicker and has had a number of coaching changes too, but they have kept Malzon for several yrs now and the program is stabilized, which TN's is not. If Pruitt gets 4 yrs I think our program will stabilize also. Not sure the fans will support that but its what needs to happen.

Auburn has gone through coaches. They fire losers. They're not "patient" like so many here urge us to be. One of the differences though is that everyone they've hired in my opinion have been good recruiters AND coaches they thought could coach the last guy's recruits.

It is no secret that I never thought very highly of Jones. But one of the ways Jones was set up to fail is that his scheme and philosophy were significantly different from Fulmer-Kiffin-Dooley. All three were more "traditional" in their approach to offense. Big OL's. Run first.

Now... UT is back to that ideal. Jones didn't set Pruitt up for it.

Not sure but I do know that 2 0r 3 years ago the Auburn fans were ready to ride him out of town on a rail. Said a lot of the things that are being said about Pruitt. Can you google and tell me ANY football team that has never lost to a team they should have beaten? Just wondering because I have watched college football for over 50 years and I can't think of a single one. Appy St beat Michigan. Just one example. I'll sit and wait for you to get back to me. SMH

Gus's never had a losing season at Auburn after taking over from Chizik's 3-9 team in 2013. if we apply the Auburn standard, Pruitt should already be fired.
