Is this REALLY the program they want to commit to? I hope they all realize that the only time Chizik has been successful was when he had Cam Newton (which would have made any team a title contender). Their blocking is terrible, run AND pass. Their qb's look like a deer in headlights. Chizik won't last long.

I really hope UT's coaches are on the phone with these recruits ASAP.

I agree that Chizik has been successful only when he had Cam (REALLY, REALLY successful) - when was the last time Dools was successful??? Please think before you post!

So an AU commit/recruit is going to be safer coming to UT? Really? 1-7 in SEC last year, 0-2 so far this year. Dools named as a hotseat coach in major sports publications pre-season through today. Somebody is denying reality.

Off topic but, watching Miss St play Kentucky, they are pitiful..both teams. We should beat State by 10 and kill Kentucky that is if we don't quit.

there are obvious reasons that UT is heading in the right direction. which direction does it look like AUB is heading? all of the above is correct, yet we still land above average recruiting classes, and are on pace to do so again this year. So yes, someone is denying reality.

OrangeHammer, thank you for pointing out that our program is ahead of Auburn's! You are giving your all for Tennessee today! Some of our more "analytic posters" might not be able to comprehend that, but the fact is that Tennessee is a better place to be than Auburn, Alabama. Always has been, and always will be. Simple!

The recruits don't seem to feel that way.

And just HOW much mediocrity are you willing to stomach, sir? Heading in the right direction? It's taken us 5 games to establish some sort of a run game. 5 games. Does it take "good" teams 5 games to warm up? No.

And I understand the whole "2 year waiting period" for the 3-4 defense. Really, I do. But it's not like we're even running a complex 3-4. Theses kids can't be THAT dumb. Being out of position is one thing; not having a single defender in the area is another. Actually, we aren't in a 3-4 near as often as people think we are. So we're in our basic defense most of the time and are still out of position. Why? No excuse.

I really do try to be realistic and reasonable. But there does come a time when you expect progress. Everyone on this board should expect this. Not expecting this makes you delusional. The running game looked decent last game. Defense has been below average, best.

I welcome rebuttal. Please. Rebuttal me.

OrangeHammer is trying to get recruits on board. I would hope that every UT fan would try to do the same, no matter what. I don't know if Dooley is the guy or not, but no matter what happens, UT will have the right coach, Dooley or whoever. Get behind this program, and quit *****ing about every little thing. There's no question that we are better than Auburn!

KNOXVILLE — Like the rest of his Tennessee teammates, Rajion Neal will enjoy the rest the open date annually provides.

The Volunteers' junior tailback could use it, too.

Though he entered the preseason as part of a three-way backfield competition, Neal leads the Southeastern Conference with 103 carries through five games.

South Carolina's Marcus Lattimore figures to get more than the 12 carries he needs to pass Neal's mark in the Gamecocks' showdown with Georgia in Columbia, but given the nature of Tennessee's offense, Neal's position near the top of that statistical category is surprising.

+1. OrangeHammer which high schools were you able to visit over the bye week? Anybody you feel is close to pulling the trigger? I'll hang up and listen.
