AU Pass D

Maybe Dobbs can have a great game whether we win or lose, and that will still be another brick for the future.

But I wanna win! :rock:

Yea they are the two worst pass defenses. Difference is Mizzou has the 3rd best Rushing D which is why they have so many more passing attemps against their D than Auburn's. And AU gives up over 150 yards rushing a game as well. Thing with Mizzou is they lead the conference in forcing turnovers. Too many people throw up AU beating A'M and they beat them with an injured Manziel and A'M from a stat standpoint has the worst D in the conference. And LSU beat AU very easily. My point is we have a good chance if we don't turn the ball over and have stupid penalties.

Good response and this article backs up your argument.

Yes, all Auburn "student" athletes pass with a D. The full grade conversion chart:

F = A
D = A
C = A
A,B = N/A (no precedent)

These grades will have no bearing on salary.

Yeah, but A&M still put up 41 points with an injured Manziel in a 45-41 loss. I do expect the Vols to play better at Neyland against Auburn than they have the last 2 weeks on the road against teams that are very good on both sides of the ball, but realistically the Vols will probably have to score in thhe 30s to get an upset against Auburn. Which means they are going to do something against an SEC defense that they have not been able to do so far this season. To keep Auburn below 30 our D is also going to have to do something it hasn't been able to do in maybe forever - contain a dual threat QB in a spread offense. I suspect our D is going to have to create multiple TOs if they are going to stay in this game.

(1) We had no chance against Auburn in 19985

(2) We had no chance against Miami in the Sugar Bowl

(3) We had no chance against LSU, in Death Valley, with Rick Clausen at q.b. and us being far behind at half time

(4) We had no chance against Notre Dame at South Bend

Means nothing. Those UT teams were much better than the team we have now.

There's always "a chance". But today, given the matchups and current momentum and confidence of these 2 teams, the chance is very slim. But that's why they play the game.
